You can do 500 a day, but if you are not doing them correctly and breathing correctly you are not going to see any results. There are wrong ways to do any exercises. I was in the Army, and sit ups were something you could do everyday. Just eat healthy, and do your sit ups, and in no-time you will see results.Make it fun. I don't know how many sit-ups you can do a song, but put some of your fave music on, and go at it.

That seems excessive, and most experts recommend not working the same muscle group 2 days in a row, so the muscle(s) have a chance to rest and repair after a strenuous workout.

Regular ab workouts will tone/firm those muscles but if you are going to do 500 crunches, make sure that's more like 100 forward, 100 to each side, 100 reverse, and not 500 just straight up and down (forward)...you wouldn't be working the whole rectus abdominus if you only do forward ones.

No, doing 500 sit ups a day will not tone your abs. Instead, it will create bulky muscle. Doing sit ups contracts your stomach outwards and then your abs learn to be built poking out of your stomach. They will not create a flat stomach.

If you want strong abs and a flat stomach, I suggest Pilates. Pilates is a great way to gain strength, but to maintain it internally instead of creating bulky excess. I recommend in the highest regard Pilates. They probably offer Pilates classes at the YMCA or at your local gym. Go to a Pilates class at least 3 times a week and those days you don't go try to do some of the exercises at home.

If you still want to do sit ups, do them like this, it is a pilates based method:

Lie down on your back and place your feet standing. Bend your arms so your hands are behind your neck for support.

Inhale. Feel the air rising up and your ribs opening.

Bring your elbows in, use your abs to lift up your shoulders up as you exhale. Feel your ribs closed and press your belly button to your spine.

Roll down the spine, open your elbows as you inhale.

Repeat 20 times.

On the 20th time stay up.

Draw circles with your upperback/shoulders. Try not to draw circles with with your head. Go 10 to the right and 10 to the left.

Make your knees face left and to the same thing, but still keeping your entire back on the floor. Dont lie on your side. Do the same thing with your knees facing right.

Doing pilates or that excercise will definently tone your abs without building them out, if you do them right. If you are looking to lose weight, consider a nutritionist and keep excercising.

technically.

Doing 500 situps a day will build the muscles in your stomach. But you will not see any of the benefits you are doing unless you change your diet.

Almost everyone has abs, but you cant see them because they are covered with fat. Change your diet and continue to do situps and cardio and you will see a toned stomach.

You can do them everyday, but your body needs time to recover. Do them on average 3 times a week taking a day off after each time.

Hundred Sit Ups

toning is the same thing as reducing body fat and sit ups will have no effect on that. you would have to perform several thousand sit ups just to burn a couple of hundred cals. sit ups will help to strengthen the abdominal muscle but will have no effect on fat loss in the midsection as you can't spot reduce fat stores.

to reduce body fat so that you can see the abdominal wall with out flexing you need to clean up your diet and eat more whole foods and exercise at a high level of intensity to increase the resting metabolic rate.

You wouldn't see much of a difference in only 2 weeks.. Usually people start getting results after 6-8 weeks.

If you overdo anything, it's going to hurt you somewhere else. A common problem with sit-ups is that your hemorroids flare up after a while. Set reasonable goals for yourself and give your body time to recuperate. Don't over-do any exercises.
