Say you walk 3 miles one day, 2 miles the next and another 2 miles the next. all spaced out over the week, Is that enough to get and stay fit?

We have been walking to the grocery store, (nearly 2 miles from here) to buy fruit and milk, etc. etc. so we don't have to drive into town to go shopping, so there and back is nearly 4 miles. with groceries on the way back, also we go to walgreens, about a mile and a half from here to buy stuff like soap and other household needs (we just moved, so we're trying to get everything together) we buy pretty much everything from whole foods, and the sweetest thing in our house is 70% dark chocolate, and that is in short supply. we don't really have anything else that is junk food like. and we eat home cooked dinners every night. so, is this enough??

It depends, are you feeling healthy?

Yes, it is enough to keep you fit, but you can still remain unfit while doing that amount of exercise. You also must eat healthy to remain fit. And if you don't drink enough water...its going to hurt you. The body is like a machine. You must take proper care of it to keep it healthy.

A diet rich in whole grains and fiber, protein, and just healthy foods in general, combined with an active lifestyle and plenty of water, is what will keep you fit. The best way to know is how you feel, and how you feel when you look in the mirror.

For many though, 10 miles a day is more than enough to remain fit.

Walking 10 Miles A Week

That equates to 20-30 minutes of exercise three times a week. That's good, but more would be better, especially if you're trying to lose weight.

its all about calories.
are you burning more calories than you are eating.

remember: "healthy" is not equal to "skinny" Healthy people are people that eat right, keep their heart in good shape, and are psychologically sound. If you are walking 10 miles a week and enjoying the scenery, free time for thinking, and eating right -- it is probably healthy.

No you need to do something that will get your heart pumping more like jogging 1 of the miles. Also to be fit you need to lift weights and eat and drink right!

As long as you eat good, then that would be be enough..BUT if you eat all junk, then nothing is going to help you get/stay fit. Good Luck!

Yes, it is. Just get that heart rate up and keep it up for 15 - 20 minutes, and you're good to go.

Not exactly. If that's all the exercise you are doing then i would recommend aiming for walking closer to10miles a day.
