You can parallel speakers if you know 2 things.
The minimum impedance the amplifier is rated for.
The impedance of your speakers you want to parallel.

The amplifier should have a sticker indicating minimum impedance.
So if it says 4 ohms min, than you could safely parallel two 8 ohm speakers.

Does your home stereo system have a connection for another set of speakers? If so, and you have an A/B speaker selection switch on your home stereo, then all you would need to do is figure out what speaker impedance would match your stereo ( usually 8 ohms ) and hook it up to the "b" connections.

If you don't then your best bet would be to go out and buy a speaker selector switch. This would allow you to hook up both sets of speakers to your stereo.

Do not just parallel another set of speakers to the ones you have. This will lower the impedance that the amplifier sees and can cause it to overheat and / or fail.

i attempted this with my bookshelf stereo 2 years interior the previous. I under pressure a pair of boxed motor vehicle audio subs into my seventy 5 watt powered subwoofer. The subwoofers weren't audible and can require another amp to vigor them. a million-2 channel amps with a low-frequency crossover will value around $2 hundred. you would be at an benefit procuring a living audio subwoofer. RadioShack had a seventy 5 watt powered subwoofer for $a hundred.
