Occurring October 13, 1917. Eyewitnesses described the solar miracle at Fatima: a very credible and "objectie" reporter from "O Seculo" remarked the sun disk manifestation at Fatima on that October 13th was "an incredible spectacle, unbelievable if you did not witness it. From above the road...The immense crowd turn towards the sun, which appeared at its zenith, clear of the clouds. It looked like a plate of dull silver, and it was possible to stare at it without the least discomfort. It did not burn the eyes. It did not blind.) "The people could look at the sun as we look at the moon." (Maria do Carmo) This is from the Newspaper Oct 13th, 1917

Doesn't this same phenomenon happen in every heavily populated city in the world? It's called smog, and on particularly glorious days, it may block the sun entirely!

Nearly 90 years ago, no scientific observations made, not recorded at any other locations or independently by observers outside of the crowd. I'd explain it a crowd hysteria or potentially weather conditions but I don't know meteorology enough to say that there is any condition known or not. As I don't believe in God I sincerely doubt that it was a miracle but given the length of time that has past and the lack of collaborating information I would hesitate to place any faith in it if I did believe.

The prevalent weather patterns were similiar to those where this same sort of 'miracle' have been seen elsewhere, the only difference is that this one occurance was in the context of a heavily religious environment.

Funny that people not a half mile away failed to see it, funny that people not an eighth of a mile away failed to see it...

Funny, isn't it, that even people in view of the crowd but were some distance off could not see it.

In short -- poor reporting and weather.

Next please.

How is that a miracle? What good happened from it? If God's going to do miracles, why wouldn't he stop Earthquakes and tsunamis?

Mass hallucination. They were told in advance that there would be a "miracle". Never underestimate the power of suggestion.
