Sciatica is caused more often from a piriformis syndrome than a bulging disc clinically which means that one or more of your buttock muscles is weak in that it lacks nerve supply to your behind and therefore needs stimulation there. If you are able to walk without much pain, I would suggest trying to walk with longer strides with both legs than you normally would to increase contraction of your buttock muscles. The more you activate these muscles, the more the piriformis muscle which is compressing the sciatic nerve, will be relieved and not pinching on it to cause your pain. Also, try standing in front of a wall and bring your leg back as far as you can to contract your buttock muscles as well.

Also lying on your back, bring one knee as close to your chest as possible and hold it for 2 mins at a time. Do this throughout the day with both legs. This should help give you relief.

Use ice packs on your painful areas; do not use heat!
Good luck!

I've been battling sciatica for close to a decade, after a minor car accident, and I had tried everything the doc threw at mepills, injections, special mattresses This guide was extremely eye opening and within one week of the regimen you gave me I can barely feel any discomfort. You have no idea how much of a relief it is to be finally getting rid of a pain I've had to bear for so many years.

Toxicity in the body, constipation and gas trouble, acidity, disorders of organs on front side cause to inflame nerves on back besides spine problems; therefore cause pain normally.
None of these can be treated with medicines. Hence There is no medicine in this world to treat Lumbago, Crvical or Back pain.
We treat back pain with the help of our research within 10 mins also!
Our success is above 90% without medicine.
Acupuncture is best treatment for back pain and especially Sciatica, but practitioner must be a real master otherwise result may be zero. Just a single point combination makes this difference.
Yog also treats it nicely, but teacher must need knowledge of Anatomy. Instead Meditation is the best solution.

For myself, squatting for 5 minutes or so (until the feet start to tingle) works the best.

I have 2 herniated discs & shattered a disc about 25 years ago. When the pain meds don't work, it's what I do, especially when there is no time to slow down.

Another really good exercise is to lay on the floor, bringing each knee (one at a time, of course) toward the chest & hold for a few seconds. It woks similar to squatting, i.e., a form of traction.

Sorry. Surgery is the only way to alleviate the pain. It's an outpatient procedure, so what's your problem. You'll be up walking around the next day (of course, you'll be in pain from the surgery, but compared to the back pain you feel now, the pain is different and nothing compared to what you're going through now). Vicodin will alleviate the pain, but then you'll get addicted to pain medication. Have the surgery... it's worth it. My husband had the same problem and he had two discs "shaved" down to alleviate the pressure on the ciatic (sp?) nerve, which sent that pain shooting down his leg to the tip of his big toe. He was a jerk to me too because he was always in pain. Don't live your life in pain when surgery will save you in the long run. If insurance is a problem... sorry to hear about that. The cost is substantial. Vicodin helped my husband until the surgery and immediately afterward. He walked out of the hospital (the same day of the surgery) and walked the next day. After a week, he was walking around the block, which is the best thing for that type of surgery. He also took 3 years off from work while I worked to support us and our son. Good luck and I highly recommend surgery for you. Don't wait any longer... have the surgery... I promise you... your life is worth living after having this surgery. My husband is a plumber and went back to plumbing and is making more than I was while I was working. You're worth it. Please get help... I know how you must feel. It's terrible living in pain, especially constant and unrelentless. Please save yourself.

Ehm..
Sciatica is a pain that results from irritation of one of sciatic nerves. This is a lower back pain that goes down to hip and then to both legs extending to feet and toes in some cases. Sciatica nerve is the largest nerve in our body. Running down the spine through the hip, sciatic nerve goes down to knee and ankle. Any damage or pressure on this nerve results in debilitating sciatica pain that needs thorough investigation of probable causes on the basis of symptoms to provide relief to the patient on a permanent basis.
