For example, many original Rembrandt paintings weren't actually painted by Rembrandt. But for a long time we saw them as original Rembrandts.

Assuming creation needs a creator, why would your particular god be that creator?

The same way that we know the difference between a fake Rembrandt and the real deal -there are certain characteristics of that creation that the only One Creator could have accomplished.
1. The creation is complex -DNA,the human eye, the delicate balance of the earth ecosystem, the orbital motion of the planets around the sun, the position of our solar system within the Milky Way galaxy. All these point to an all-knowing, all-powerful God as described in the Bible.
2. Man reflects the image of God -we have an ingrained sense of right and wrong, we can know and understand abstract concepts of love and beauty, justice and freedom. The Bible describes God as doing this in human beings only. It also goes on to state that God loves His creatures and desires to have relationship with them.
3. The God of the Bible knows things about the future that only He as God could know. He reveals those prophecies in the Bible, many of which have already come true as He said they would.

These are just a few points. I doubt that you could come up with another deity that fulfills all three of these requirements besides Yahweh -not Zeus, not Odin, not any god in the Hindu pantheon.

regardless of whether Rembrandt painted all those paintings or not there was still a painter. That cannot be denied.

To be honest I can't stand it when people say "My God this or my God can do this, etc." like they own God or something. Then you have those others who go around saying "Me and God worked it out, etc." I don't own God. Noone does.

Now is it possible the human condition can mislabel a reality? Sure enough. But it does not change the reality.

Just because you do not believe in an old man who lives in the sky does not mean that you do not believe in God. Every religion has its disagreements about what God is and isn't, but the one thing that all Gods symbolize is the good and love in the world. If you can learn to see the good in the world and to help it grow and expand in your own way, that is God. Look around you. Go to the zoo and look at all the animals. Go down to the ocean and watch the sunset. Whether God is a man in the clouds, or the clouds themselves, or the force of Nature, or the wonder of human perception, you can see God everywhere if you just look the right way. Even in the Bible, life doesn't inherently have a point. You need to give it one. If you want to talk about it, feel free to AIM me (SorceressSphinx).

Because no one can create a painting as lovely as God's. Especially not a random nothingness that just happened.

This question is exactly the type of thing I was curious about on my question: Do you really care if Christians (or other Christians) believe in things you don't?

When it can be proven that God did not create the painting you see every morning then perhaps I will believe it. No, probably not.

"Denying the existence of a creator is like denying the existence of a painter who transformed a blank canvas into a wonderful masterpiece..."

That's the point you showed...

The bible clearly says that that 'particular God' who created all things, by all things meaning creation...is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. That God as a name...look it up at Exodus 3:15 of some bible versions...

Why would a creator need to pretend to be someone else -- who doesn't even need to exist? Why wouldn't God (being GOD) act in accordance with His nature? My beliefs are based on God's actions.

I've said this about the President, too: if they can fake being a good guy well enough that no one can ever tell the difference, that's fine with me. God doesn't need to be elected or reelected, though, so again, it makes no sense for Him to pretend to be something He isn't.

Why, but you take a good look at your freshly painted hands with your freshly painted eyes and recognize god's brushprint on them, of course!...

...what, I'm not a painting?!! *scratches head again with the big toe from the left foot*

Obviously you can't. Besides no god signed their name at the bottom of the painting which in this case I guess would be the universe.
