It was 'The Fall Guy', and co-starred the amazing Heather Locklear and ran from 1981 to 1986. I think the original co-star was Heather Thomas, who was pretty special too.
Lee Majors played Colt Seavers, a Hollywood stunt man who moonlighted as a bounty hunter and used his physical skills and knowledge of stunt effects to capture fugitives and criminals.
Lee even sang the theme song "The Unknown Stuntman" - which was quite catchy as I recall.
