She had kittens 6 weeks ago and now she's back to her old self and on the prowl. In short of having her fixed is there something I can do to help her? We are keeping her in the house but shes got the rear in the air and whining. Please help?

I recomend you keep her in the house and away from other male cats. The best thing you can do is spay her and nothing else will get her mind off of mating. Good Luck

Is there a reason you're not getting her spayed?

You need to get her spayed once the kittens are weaned - she's in heat so she's already more than capable of getting pregnant again. Since she's done it once I assume she'll do it again? As well as stopping her having kittens it will help her future health and make her a lot more comfortable.

If you don't spay her, you're not only contributing to the animal population problems we already have, but you're also risking the health of your cat. Unaltered females are at higher risk for developing reproductive problems. The best thing you can do for her is spay her. I know that the SPCA near me does low cost spaying for $48. If you don't spay her, every time she is in heat she will find a way to get out and breed, that's how my friend's cat got pregnant.

The tail in the air and the constant noise are typical of cats in heat. the best thing you can do for her is to get her fixed. Your local Department of Animal Control may have coupons that pay for most of the cost. If you don't want to do that, then get used to it. Also remember that cats, although they have a "season", can go into heat whenever they want to. Like every month, when you have your period. My youngest kitten is doing that. She also goes into heat when my daughter has her period. That is extremely annoying and we are planning to have her fixed as soon as we can afford it.

there really isn't much more you can do. I mean your cat is horny and unless you want another six kittens running around don't do anything. ignore the loud meow's those are just the cats mating calls, sorry if you feel bad watching your cat go thrgouh this but it's apart of nature, there seriously is NOTHING that you can do about any of this.
sorry and good luck!

YOU NEED TO GET HER FIXED. Millions (yes millions) of cats are put down each year because of not enough homes, there is no excuse for anyone to have a pet that is not fixed. We don't need anymore unwanted kittens

Why on earth don't you fix her? Check www.petfinder.com and contact local rescues to inquire about low cost spay clinics in your area. Cats in heat are a MISERY, as you know, and WILL find a way to go out and breed. save yourself the trouble, get her out of her misery, have her fixed.

well if you let her out you do need to spay her. I have not spayed my cat but she never goes outside. I am a protective mommy :). I know it is expensive but its hard on them to keep having babies you will have to just pay. Go to spay usa bc they are good to the cats and they are cheaper. Do not take her to just any clinic that is cheap bc their very unsafe

she needs to be neueterd or this will repeat itself. An option is the cat pill but that can(very likely) cause cancer on long term.
