I know a lot of Catholics. Of all the Catholics that I consider friends, not a single one reads the Bible.

On the other hand, Protestants can be just as guilty.

Some above answerers commented that Catholics are taught the Bible better and that Protestant pastors only pick certain passages. Whether that's true or false I won't comment on, but I will say that either way we must investigate the word ourselves. How could we otherwise know the truth.

Anyone who considers themselves a follower of Christ but does not read and investigate and analyze and study the scriptures is being hypocritical.

Most Catholics know more of the Bible than do Protestants because in Mass almost the entire bible is read plus it's illustrated through sacred art.

Protestant pastors tend to emphazised only those verses of the bible that agree with their religion, so they miss the fullness.

Some protestants seem to think that it is better to dishonor Catholics than to honor God.

I read once a few years ago that less than 10% of Christians read the bible, and less than 3% have read it cover to cover.

Hey, don't shoot the messenger here folks!

Nevermind reading your Bible. It's only for church leadership to read and interpret.(Oh, yes--that was commonplace within the Catholic Church for QUITE some time) Church tradition says so... and you know how Church tradition can be when you get him angry! j/k! I thank God every day for sending a saint like Martin Luther to do His will.

I would debate any non-Catholic about the Bible anyday, anytime. Thank God we are taught it.
