In 1971, Earnhardt married his second wife, Brenda Gee (the daughter of NASCAR car builder Robert Gee), who gave birth to a daughter, Kelley, in 1972, and a son, Dale Jr., in 1974. Not long after his second son was born Dale and Brenda divorced.
I believe they divorced because Brenda wanted Dale to quit racing and get a full time job that could support the family as he was just racing at local dirt tracks and not making much money. Dale had not gotten into Winston Cup yet.....
Dale Jr & Kelly lived with their mom after the divorce, but went to live with their dad after their house burnt down. Jr. doesn't say in his book exactly when that happened but it appears to be between 1980-83.
His mom, Brenda, was at his press conference yesterday and he did mention her. He even mentioned that he wanted to be able to support her in her lifestyle as she grows older. He mentioned one time at one of the Virginia tracks that his mom lived in Virginia, but I don't know if that is where she still lives.
But they are close and she is definitely a part of his life.

Dale's mom was his dad's second marriage. His mother Brenda Gee was the daughter of famous NASCAR builder, Robert Gee.
Dale Sr and Brenda Divorce shortly after Dale Jr's birth. Since they were married such a short time it most likely was irreconcilable differences.

ot was dale srs second marraige and he was working at the cotton mill and racing at the same time not making any money to live on and she could'nt live that way any more.running up bills at the local garages for car parts and yes she is still alive in the kannapolis sc area

Let the woman be she does not need people questioning her she has two special children one who I am a fan of I bet she is so proud od dale like all os us I hope Brenda has a long and good life, people can not help to be noisy myself included but I have admiration for her.

They had their personal differences and that's all anybody needs to know, the rest is their personal business, not ours. Yes she is still alive and very much involved with Jr, which he has stated before.

Jr's mom, Brenda Gee, was Dale Sr's second wife. They divorced after six years. He probably married her because her dad built race cars. After he got rich, he could afford his own cars, so he dumped her.

And as a parent myself, I give this woman a lot of credit for growing up a young man who speaks his mind honestly and can still be thoughtful enough to not harm others as his press conference showed yesterday. That's good upbringing and his mom did a great job.
