It depends on what you mean by 'phony'... There are some legitimate Christians who do get rude or threaten, and still think they're trying share the Word of the Lord... It's sad to see someone lose their way like that...

Okay I'm a real christian and I'm about to get what would be considered rude in your opinion.

This is called Yahoo answers not Yahoo I'll ask a question so I can tell you what I think. Now I can understand clarifying or answering peoples answers in additions as the answers come up but you never really gave us the chance to answer.

So here is a word of the Lord for you so you can tell I'm a real christian by your standards.

Prov 18:13 He who gives an answer before he hears, It is folly and shame to him.

Yes, this might be one way to identify or tell true Christians from phony ones.

I do not, however believe that only phonies are 'rude' and/or "threaten" violence. I realize you are not referring to the literal threat of violence, and in that light, I believe that well meaning--or as you refer to them as being--true Christians can be just as obnoxious, borish, and banal as any one else.

You might consider widening your criteria for determing the truthfulness and 'phoniness' not only of those who participate here at Yahoo Q&A, but also of what others insist on you believing is 'the truth.' (?)

Using your definition of what you believe a True Christian does, acts--that of "never stop trying to share the Word of the Lord'--what if, what if what they were never stopping to share was, in fact, a complete distortion of what they thought was the 'word of the lord'?

What they still be True Christians? Even though they were being extremely polite, and non-threatening?

Are you saying that you completely agree with, and totally accept the attempts of others who claim to be True Christians to share with you and others their own unique and beliefs which are dissimilar to those of your own?

To and/or for me, a definition of a 'phony' might be better described as one who without any thinking, thought, logic or reasoning, blindly accepts what their 'religious authorities' tell them what 'truth' is, and simply, and continually repeat and repeat and repeat the same things--over and over and over again, and again and again.

Regards,

Mmmm lets see now.Jesus said dont judge lest you be judged.forgive or you cant be forgiven........so given you do whats above it cant hurt recognising who the ones that arnt acting the way they are supposed to.we all have bad days and all christians are not on the same par in the great golf game of life.this doesnt justify the actions of others and it doesnt help us if we are to suffer the brunt of proffesing christians behaving un christian like!. the only scripture that seems fitting at this time is when jesus said you will know them by their fruit.note he didnt say judge them by thier fruit.but at the end of the day we need to take the advise of jesus and love one another for love covers a multitude of sins.we all stand alone on judgment day and our reaction to others can be the difference between jesus saying good and faithfull servant come in and dine with me and him saying depart from me you worker of lawlessness for i never knew you .its all to easy to point the finger.some of us need to take the log out of our eye before we can see clearly enough to see the splinter in our brother or sisters eye.
as the song says....love is the answer love is the key, love is the answer ive been searching for.......

Only God can assess anyone's mind and soul deeply enough to tell a true Christian. A true Christian will focus on being one, not identifying one.

I can't agree with you. I have seen some VERY angry Christians on this site AND on the gay.lesbian.bi.transgendered site.... VERY angry. Some people just have a short fuse no matter what label they have. AND they use name calling and insults because they THINK that it gives them credibility....the game continues.

I'm not certain you can.

One thing is for certain, true Christians speak the Truth, i.e. the Holy Bible - the Word of God. They also acknowledge Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

No, I pretend to be christian at times and other times I pretend not to be, usually I am trying to help those who aren't sure about their faith but are to afraid to speak up for fear of other christians judging them.

True Christians concern themselves with their own morality.

False Christians concern themselves with the morality of others.
