We have been watching these baby duck eggs for a week now at my work, the mom has always been there. Well today we saw the mom as road kill on the street. very sad. What can we do for these eggs? one is crushed.. and one was outside the nest, and one is missing. we rolled the one back in using bread so we would touch it. Can we call someone to pick them up and care for them, or can we do something?

The egg will only be saved if you place it in an incubator ASAP. Even then, they may have been outside the nest for too long. Incubators can be purchased at local farm supply stores.

If you know someone who owns chickens or ducks and they currently have birds sitting a nest, you might try an "egg transplant" into the surrogate mother's nest. Might work.

Is there a local wildlife rescue center nearby? If so, call them, as they will have an incubator for the eggs.

If no wildlife rescue, maybe call a nearby farm and feed supply store and see if they have an incubator you can rent.

If not, call your local vet... in fact, maybe call them first for better advice than I can give... and see if they can either incubate the eggs or tell you haw to make a "makeshift" incubator... maybe a towel-nest with a heat lamp nearby.

Meanwhile, I'll see if I can find an article addressing this:
Wow! Bunches of article out there... keep the eggs warm and check out some of these articles:

Ok, well I hope one or more of these sites can help you... good luck with the babies!

If I were you I'd proably take them home, chacnes are if they're out in the open someone or something might try to mess with them. But to make sure they're fertile take them into a dark rom one by one with a lfahslight and hold it up to the light. You might see a several veins and a dark spot(embryo), it might even move!

Once at home keep them under a desk lamp or on a heating pad for warmth(just make sure the heating pad ISN'T too hot). Once the ducks are born, they won't need to be fed for the first 24 hours. Once they start walking around try giving them bowl with some birdseed and water, you may want to add some stones or marbles in the water bowl so they don't fall in and drown. DON'T let them get wet! since they can get sick and possily die.

Here;s a site that can help you:

If you want the best advice try asking a vet.

hope all goes well!!

You would have to have an egg incubator to try to raise it.

call fish and wildlife and see if they have any numbers for bird rehabbers in your area. you'll need to do it quickly for it to make a difference.

in case you touch it you will flow away your fragrance and the mother will kill it. it desires organic warmth so i advise you dont placed a warmth lamp on it. purely flow away it and the mother will hatch it and look after it.
