Hi, I own an unfinished furniture retail store and we're about to try out our first Billboard advertisement. The billboard will be in our downtown area and we came up with the following concept: "Looking for one nitestand?" with below it a couple of nitestands (bedside tables!) and a girl sitting in between them. Obviously this is a little provocative but that was the idea, to get people to notice the billboard and talk about it and hopefully come to the store! The big boss of the billboard co. isn't so sure about it though, he thinks it might be a little too much (I don't think so!) so now he wants us to have some backup ideas. My other one was to have a girl sitting on a kitchen island with a colorful drink and sunglasses and it would read: "Always wanted to own your own private island?" But I would love to have a few more puns on some furniture pieces. I've been racking my brain, but those are all I can think of! Anyone else have some good ideas???

Is most of your furniture purchased by young men? If not, you might want to go more "family" themed, not so sexy. Sure, the sexy ones will get noticed, but will it be by your target customer? Or will that customer be "turned off"? If you are targeting college age up to 30's singles, its a great campaign idea. It would have to be placed near a college or nightspot and should be lighted. This is not an ad for a rural or suburban community.

Keep in mind that billboards should only have about 7 words including your store name and location. I like the answerer who coined "Shabby or Chic? You decide." For a family area or target customers 30-50 with more money. That is the one that would get me in the store. (Female, upper middle income, 40's, furniture buyer in the family.)

Good luck!

I think your original idea is great but how about a girl laying on a small sofa and the slogan "We don't know why they call it a love seat, perhaps you do" or a girl sitting on a small table showing only her butt and the table with the slogan "That's not what we mean by end table but our furniture is strong enough to sit on"

More family friendly idea ..... A sexy young lady in a rocking chair with the slogan "Rockers, not just for Grannies anymore".

Is that the only thing you can come up with and it has to do with Sex , Who cares if children walk up and down the street thinking one night stands are Ok , I wouldnt shop at your furniture store just because of that ,Why dont you look around at the other huge furniture stores and see if they have signs advertising cheap sex ,

Those are both very cute. Here are a few I came up with:
A girl with a book case and a paint brush "Can't wait to dress you." or a man and woman with a headboard and a can of mahogany stain - "Can't wait 'til it's dark." A beautiful dinner table with white paint on one side and a can of stain on the other. "Shabby or Chic you decide." Good Luck!

Everyone's heard of the unfinished symphony...so why don't
you just say "finish our symphony"....you could have someone
holding a baton in front of a group of unfinished furniture
playing instruments . Underneath it could say "the most
talented collection of unfinished furniture, now playing at
(your address and name).
