Will going to a city school for my masters degree affect in anything the value of my degree?

I obtained my business administration degree from a private College and have no money to afford a private school for my masters degree.

It wont affect the quality of your education, but for sure, especially in the business world, alumni definitely prefer to hire one of their own. You will still be able to get a job of course, but the higher paid jobs will go to people who are able to establish a personal connection with the employer. Trust me, I know.

I guess you're referring to a state university as opposed to a prestigious private one. With the escalating tuition costs, the trend right now is to go to smaller, less know colleges because they are more affordable, more personalized and offer better opportunities for students to participate in research. Although some people still think the Ivy League colleges are the only ones that carry weight, many students from smaller, less known colleges are doing just fine. Don't worry. You already have your first degree as you stated. Get your masters any way that you can (other than those online schools that get no respect.) Some people wish they had shown enough commonsense to get affordable education instead of being stuck with student loans that haunt them forever. Good luck.

Depends on which school and which city. At one time City College in New York was a gold plated degree, today open admissions and affirmative action have made it all but worthless... ditto for most other municipal schools. Your advanced degree's worth depends a lot on the pedigree of the institution. Pull out all the stops and get admitted to the best school you can't afford - it's a good investment.

I'm a little confused.

City colleges (or community colleges) don't usually offer Master's programs. State Universities do - and those are fine. Depending on what private program you have completed, you may need some additional courses before you are accepted - you'll need to check with the University.

No I don't think so, but think forward... it will all depend on where you want to go after the master's degree. If you want a top company then consider the private degree.

i would opt against a city school as they are not as reputable as a State College or State University. Public is fine- you can also call the school and ask what the programs success rate is as well as its hire rate (what percentage get hired out of college). you can also find out if they have internships through the program which definately help in establishing a resume and making connections. also look at the schools ranking- best of luck!
