So what do you call continuing to believe something IN SPITE of evidence to the contrary? What if the evidence is overwhelming, and completely accepted by millions of experts in the subject?

I think that kind of obstinate tenacity deserves a different word. Anyone can do Faith; it takes someone special to be quite so doggedly wrong.

Oh, and: God approves of faith, we're told. But what does He think of this other thing?

Its pretty much called "faith".

There is also evidence supporting Christianity. The Romans, just one example, have records confirming the events of the New Testament, specifically on the miracles of Jesus.

Accepted by millions of experts?

Important lesson in life:

Just because the experts say something doesn't make it true. Just look at the food guide; decades after its creation, its discovered that the old one is terribly unhealthy and slowly kills you.

Think about it. I'm saved. You aren't.

If god doesn't exist, then I've wasted an hour of my life every week. Oh my.

Stop and think. What if you are wrong? What if he does exist? What if the bible is completely true?

Well, see ya in hell,

Phil

It is "faith", but the more generalized term used to describe the study of "faith" is call metaphysics. It's very interesting.

The difference between faith and stupidity (which is the "other" word you're searching for) is arrogance. In other words, simple stupidity can be forgiven.

God has special rewards for people who have faith in spite of evidence.

Actually, I find it puzzling that they don't really admire "faith" at all. They don't admire the "faith" of suicide bombers or people who "believe in" things like Ouiji boards or aliens. They only admire people who have "faith in" their specific god.

Thats not really admiring faith. Thats just liking people who think like you do!

Actually Faith in anything is built piece by piece. I assume you have faith that when you turn the key in your ignition, the car will start?

Almost....there is evidence...it is not perceived by the 5 senses, however.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.

Faith is dedicating your life to something for fear of being cast into hell...its rather illogical

You dont have a clue as to what we feel... it's beyond your level... you haven't gotten to this level yet!

What I feel and the relationship that I have with God is real and it is life changing... I pray that oneday you can experience God in your life as I do now... you will never be the same.

You speak out of ignorance because you simply do not know!
