Most of the places in my area say they are not taking new patients or are booked for at least another month

When I first went, I got a referal from a doctor. You need to get it checked out. You're over 18 now, that's when people start going.

And a male obgyn is not that bad. Mine is male. I didn't really like the fact of having a male before I went, but now I would choose a male over a woman, just for the simple fact that they seem to be more gentle. I had a woman obgyn once, and she seemed to not even do her job. Just in it for the money, I guess.

It's not a big deal though. There has to be a nurse in there with you if you have a male. So, it's not like they're going to do something other than what they are supposed to do.

But you need to get to some obgyn. Whether it is male or female. Good luck.

That is kind of strange. I can see if you were a new patient, but not an existing patient? I would be tempted to call again and see if you get a different person to answer the phone and see what she says and then if the answer is the same, ask why since you have been a patient for how ever many years. It could be possible (since you said that he delivered you) that he is getting up in years and getting ready to retire and did not want to leave you high and dry when you are further along?

Ok you need to stop going to the pediatrician. Your pcp can be an MD or A DO now, as you are over 18.

Yes have your regular Dr. refer you to an OBGYN. Make the appt now efven if they arent booking till next month. Wait too much longer and you will have to wait until July.

ask you ped doc for a list of woman obgyn, or call your insurance company and ask for a list of woman obgyn's that are excepting patients, but if you might be pregnant, take a test from the drug store to find out for sure, and if you are try to make an appt asap, prenatal care is very important

call your dr to get a referral to a ob/gyn. Even if you are not pg you should get the yeast infection taken care of and get soem birth control and a pap smear.

and really, you have already let at least one man near your privates, why is a male doctor any worse?

get the phone book......start to call them and when you do ask if they are taking new patients explain to them your situation and how important it is you see someone..they will usually make an exception if they know you need to be seen and not looking for just a routine exam....they other thing you can do is call your local hospital and ask for women services..explain your situation and ask them to refer you to someone...weather you have to see a man or not you may have to suck it up this time till you know what you are facing...
