I'm not a Christian because I fear Hell/Eternal Damnation--I admit that as a child I was afraid & that's why I initially became a Christian. Later on, I walked away from God for a time & experimented with other things; I never renounced Christianity, however & the Love of God drew me back to Him & back to faith in Jesus Christ. Christ in me makes me a better person & I have no desire to do the things you mention--I don't claim to be perfect, I'm still a work in progress and I thank God for His mercy & grace. (((xo)))

If you live a life avoiding hell instead of trying to achieve heaven then you live a life of fear. You are saying that because hell does not exist then there is no reason to be good. Are you saying that if you were bad you could still achieve heaven? If I lived a life of sin and did not believe in God I would still go to heaven? I like to believe that we are all given as many chances as it takes to get it right. I also believe the Christianity is not about staying out of hell but knowing what it is to be truely peaceful. Can there be any alternative that is greater than being in heaven? doing good an believe in God makes me and others around me feel good. Why would I want to feel bad an make others around me feel bad even if thier was no punishment when I die?

Yes, I would.
A true Christian enters into a covenantal relationship with God -- in some ways, it's similar to marriage. Is a husband or wife a good spouse simply to avoid punishment? No. They're a good spouse because there's love and respect present.

I am not going to lie to you, I fear God as much as I love Him. One would wonder what we would do if there was no punishment for our sins. Yes, I would still love God, but honestly, I couldn't say that I would be as "good".
And for God's sake Atheists-I don't mean I would murder!!

Yep. To make your assumption work, you still need a reference for good vs. evil. How evil is evil without consequences?
