My 20month son started to develop a rash yesterday and it did clear up over the night but has now been replaced with swelling on his foreskin. Its extremely red and he won't let me put any pants on him. Has anyone had this problem before? I don't see how it could be from being unclean down there, I always wipe everywhere and now he's been wanting to use the potty so he isn't just sitting in diapers anymore. Any hints to help ease his pain or make the swelling die down. Thanks.

First any rash with swelling needs to be seen by a Doctor. Second, if you already know he's clean and he hasn't been sitting in diapers that much than that's another clue to get to the doctors. It could be nothing, allergies, or simply a skin irratation but you need to be sure.
keep it airy, if you don't have htem already get some cotton undies for him and just let him walk around like that, air helps alot. Until you know what it is I'm not sure you want to use any cream and I would never use baby powder so see what the doc says.

Well you need to call the doctor! But you could try a half teaspoon of children's benadryl.. if its something to do with allergies.. that should clear it up.. but he probably has a yeast infection... get some Monistat and put a little on his wee wee to stop the itching and then call the doctor, he will prescribe something to treat it.

Take him in, could be a strep rash also that would need a prescription.
