Seriously, just imagine the world today, if everyone were catholics in the 1940's and they all had 4 or more kids. The population in the U.S. would be an estimated 500,000,000. People don't understand what their actions today will have on the world 50 years from now or after they are dead. Most people are so selfish and say they care about the world their children and grandchildren will live in. They don't really care if they keep having so many kids. I could write a book about it, but I'll stop here.

In response to buffy, about singapore. Yeah, I wan't to live on top and below my neighbor in a 12X12 foot room. I live in Des Moines, Iowa a rapidly growing city, that used to be a decent size with breathing room. Now there is traffic hour all day everyday. In just 10 years the population has exploded. We are beggining to look like a mini-chicago. You can't get anywhere in town without sitting in traffic for 25 minutes (and we're a small city of 1,000,000 with all suburbs) What you should see is, with overpopulation STANDARD of LIVING GOES DOWN - Period

Even if overpopulation were a fact, one cannot use immoral means to achieve a desired result. Further, the Catholic Church does approve one method of regulating the spacing of children, which is more effective than most other means, and doesn't have any of the associated dangers. As for overpopulation, practically every country in Europe is currently below replacement level, meaning that the population of native citizens is becoming smaller every year. Many European nations have had to import thousands of foreigners just to provide needed jobs and services. And guess where all those foreigners are coming from? The Middle East of course, with the result that Europe is becoming increasingly Islamic with every passing year. (Muslims don't see children as a burden, but as a blessing, and large families are the norm.)

first of all it is not because of catholics that the world is overpopulated as you say. catholics do not belive in birth control because they belive it is the killing of an innocent baby. a point that will probably be argued for a very long time. but catholics do believe in other forms of birth control other than the pill, condoms or abortion. you can either abstain from having sex, or you can participate in natural family planing.
in the 1940s the reason everyone had kids was because men were returning home from WW2 and they all wanted to settle down with their wifes/girlfriends that they left at home and have children. it was not because alot were catholic and they didnt use birth control
if you really want to inform people about the fear of overpopulation than instead of targeting catholics for the blame, go out and make pamplets, flyers and brochers telling about the evils in having to many kids and the dangers of overpopulation
ive listed a source to check out about catholic beliefs if anyone is still confused:

i don't even think that overpopulation is a problem - everyone in the world could fit into texas and live there. it would be like singapore or something, where there are apartments real close to eachother, but in reality, the world is not very full.
by the way, i'm not catholic, and i'm one of 11 kids.

i'm a women persons and that i'm against delivery administration and abortion. i'm against abortion considering that's homicide and it impacts different persons different than the mummy who chosen to kill her infant. I oppose delivery administration by fact it skill that contraceptives are mandatory for reliable wellness that's demeaning to women persons considering that's asserting that by fact of our fertility we are undesirable and choose fixing. that's taking fertility that's a healthy state and calling it a sickness. human beings talk with regard to the pill as though it have been candy which it quite is no longer. that's a efficient drugs and in some circumstances a women persons’s reproductive gadget is broken and there are remedies for that, yet to take a women persons’s reproductive gadget that's working superb and smash it incredibly with a drugs that has considerable adverse aspects to it doesn’t make any experience in any respect. How can this in all probability be reliable for females persons to interrupt what isn’t broken? this concept that girls persons choose contraceptives to be unfastened undervalues area of the character of being a women persons. this concept skill that to be a very useful member of society, to prevail a women persons could use birth control. This concerns me by fact it ought to convey approximately an excellent greater desirable hostility in direction of motherhood; in direction of being pregnant and there will be this underlying unstated rule that in case you're productful, efficient, in charge woman, you would be motherless and childless and those may be the standards to benefit get admission to to bigger up careers. i think of birth control removes duty form relationships. i think of human beings could desire to handle themselves with greater effective comprehend and shop intercourse for marriage by fact actuality of the priority is intercourse is for procreation first and preferable and in case you at the instant are not prepared to settle for that duty then you definately probable should not be having intercourse. additionally ever on the grounds that delivery administration grow to be presented women persons are much less happy and girls and men persons the two like one yet another much less so who precisely does delivery administration benefit?

In the 1940's, my two grandmothers had 11 kids and 7 kids. None of their offspring has had even remotely that number of children, and the kids of those kids have had even less.

Well...your statement is true...people don't realize what their actions today do to the future. You, nor anyone else, knows what damage has been done by birth control. To assume that we would be overpopulated is ludicrous...you can't know that. Birth control changed our attitudes towards sex, children and the value of life.
Birth control began the selfishness of sex. People began to have sex for recreation, for fun with whomever with no worries...then came abortion for those whose birth control didn't work or they forgot to take their pill. Why should the have to deal with "consequences" such as parenthood when they were just having a little fun. So now, what you see and talk about, the selfishness of parents who do not care about their children or the world, are people who have been raised to think of kids as inconveniences and burdens.
This was not the way before God was taken out of sex and out of marriage. You are taking your perspective from an already sexually saturated society that can't even imagine existing without birth control or abortion. A society that demands access to sex for all as if it's a right and not a gift. Your own philosophy is flawed in that your perspective is jaded.
God commanded us to multiply and fill the earth. I think he knows better then we do, and we have already disobeyed that command. We do not know what we have done or un-done.

I went to school (back in the 1970s) with kids who had as many as FIFTEEN siblings.
Because, you see, it made sense for their mothers to place the decrees of an elderly celibate guy in a dress ahead of their own judgment.
And all of our parents wonder why their adult kids mostly don't go to church.
