take your new kitten to the litter box and put her/him in it, move its paws in the litter box so it knows that this is where he/she needs to be from now on. Even if it is covered, they'll know. Cats are smart, they will be able to figure it out, especially if you use the same brand of kitty litter. They can smell the scent where they need to go. Don't worry, just make sure you put him/her in the box and let them realize this is where they need to potty and they will go back to it!

I had the same concern with my cat. For a few days I removed the cover and just left the litter box open. Once I saw the cat get used to the location of the box, I put the cover back on and everything was fine.

If you buy a covered little box, the smartest thing to do is every day put your kitten inside the box. The kitten probably won't do anything while in there, but she/he will get used to going in there and will ALWAYS know where the litter box is. I PROMISE!

Hello....also add some of the old litter from the old box to the new box as well...they like covered actually, they really do prefer privacy when pottying ..Take Care

Put the kitten in the litter box and take her paws and make them "dig" in the kitty litter, as though she's about to use it. The kitten, if she's housebroken, will remember that the kitty litter is to be found in that spot.

CATS HAVE A GOOD SENSE OF SMELL AND WILL KNOW WHAT THE BOX IS. YOU MAY HAVE TO PUT THEM IN THE BOX THE FIRST FEW TIMES. THE PROBLEM I HAD WITH MY CATS WERE THAT THEY DIDN'T LIKE THE DARKNESS SO I TURNED IT SO THAT THE LIGHT FROM THE ROOM WOULD FLOW INTO THE OPENING OF THE BOX AND IN THE EVENING I ACTUALLY LEAVE A LIGHT ON IN THE ROOM WHERE THE LITTER IS.

I have a covered litterbox and my cats never had any problems and when i moved, they were still fine.

After ou get the litterbox set up, take your kitten and put her/him in the box. Let them sniff and kick around the litter. Let her/him get out on there own. They will remember where it was and how to get back to it.
Trust me.

as long as you keep it in the same spot, and the kitten can smell the litter, it should understand

Just show it to her. Covered or not, she'll find it when she needs it. The cover doesn't eliminate the smell!
