Fear is the only reason given for being Christian. Fear of going to Hell. After you become a Christian, Heaven, is the only thing promised to you. And no one knows if Heaven or Hell exists. A few people told me the other day "Ur going to Hell." Well I don't believe in things I can't see or understand to believe. Christians call their God loving and caring yet all he is waiting to do is temp us and then send us to Hell?

Ignorance and herd behavior would be the runners up after FEAR.

Well a couple of corrections first:

1. God does not tempt us.
2. There must be a least one thing that you can't see that you believe in...air
3. Fear is not the only reason one becomes Christian.

A true Christian realizes that he has broken God's law (the Ten Commandments), that he owes everything he has to God's benevolence and that God has prepared a place too wonderful to describe accurately in words for him when he dies.

It is true that an element of fear does play into this equation. Wanting to avoid Hell is definitely a fearful motivator.

Fear is not the reason I am a Christian. I chose to become a Christian, Or get saved, 27 years ago. Because of John 3:16, for God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. He loved me enough to do that, I love him for it. You don't seem to understand God at all. He isn't waiting to tempt us and send us to hell. Satan tempts us,, we have the choice to resist temptation and live for God. You don't have to worry about hell if you give your life to the one true God. I know heaven and hell exist because I believe God and the Bible and I know it because I feel it.

I am a Christian because I believe Christianity to be true, not because I am afraid of anything. My personal experiences and the experiences of loved ones have confirmed this belief. If Christianity is true, as I believe it to be, then it is the most important truth in existence. As such, it is a truth that has molded my very lifestyle and changed my identity. To remove this truth from my life would be to make me someone else.

You know I've never thought about this before but I think what makes me want to be a christian is that you have a personal relationship with your saviour and you always have someone to talk to.And of course, being on the winning side.

Wrong assumption on your part. Fear is NOT the only reason. It isn't even a reason for the people I know.
When once I and they finally realized exactly who God is, and what He did for us, the motivation was love.

God tempts no man, man is tempted when he follows his own lusts, it is from Satan.
Going to hell is a choice...you decide if you want Christ or not.

God does not tempt us. Satan does. I love the Lord, never feared going to hell before. I never use to care. Now, I have God's grace and I love Him for sending Jesus to the cross to die for my sins.

I am happy you asked me concerning the hope I have within.

I want to remain a Christian because of all that God has done for me. I do not believe or claim that I will never have disappointments, or anything negative happen to me, but what I have has sustained me and will sustain me through every trial and tribulation I have gone thru, am going through, or will ever go through in the future. Christ has saved me from my sins; he has redeemed me from not only from Satan, eternal damnation,

BUT

from myself. God has executed the nature I was born with, and immediately infilled me with His Holy Spirit, which has enabled me to live

FREE FROM SIN.

Words can not adequately express how grateful I am for making me

NOT

a christian,

BUT

a

TRUE

Christian. I am a saint of God, did not have to die and be canonized to become such a privileged person. I am his child and he his my Father and Jesus is my brother. Why would I not want to remain a Christian?

I have no fear of anything. If one is forced into a relationship with God, then it is not a true relationship with God, but one based on fear and not on love and faith.

The love of Jesus Christ.

I don't have the words I feel for Jesus. He has done so much for me. I am forever grateful.

The peace he has given me is beyond measure. More than just happiness, PEACE.

He said I will keep him in perfect peace who's mind is stayed on me. Because he trusted in me.
