Absolutely not, but unfortunately that is the way it is. Until enough people complain about the situation and put the right votes in place, it will continue to be that way.

Being privileged to live in a free, capitalist country (US), I'd be hard pressed to say that no one deserves to earn $28 million a year. Oprah makes much more than that and I think she's done some great things for the world.

But it's hard to understand why a professional athlete earns million$ a year, but most teachers and police offers earn only $40,000 a year.

I think this is a clear indicator that we Americans need to take a little reality check and get our priorities straightened out.

I don't think that anyone should get paid that much. Actually, I think it should be a salary cap on some of these rich people because they are making more than the damn president and all his/her perks. It is insane! I totally agree...when you have teachers having to be parents, counselors, doctors, and everyother role in society. I don't agree with someone get paid 28 mil for a damn recreational sport like running up a court, football field, track field, skating, dancing nothing!

People earn these levels of income for a number of reasons. I nt ecase of pro sports players, it because they team and league want to attract fans, so they pay top player the top money. If you don't like that, don't watch the game and do buy the advertised goods.

In the case of senior executives at major corporations, these individuals are hired for their talent and leadership ability.

Remember, you get paid what you are worth.

I think that that much money is crazy too. I know where I live you basic emt and paramedic start out a like 8-9 dollars an hour. these are ppl who are trained to save your life yet they can barely afford to put food on the table for their own families. I also would like to say to those famous ppl that they need to start putting their money where their mouth is. Ex...they complain all day about how our country needs to send money to africa and they grip about how katrina victims need money....well hello you make more then anyone else in this country so donate your own money like Sandra Bullock did I believe she gave something like a million dollars to charities to help victims!! Although it would not of hurt her to donate more, but at least she is doing something. And if those celebrities want us to drive hybrids and what not why not donate hybrids to pple instead of just saying we need to drive them. Hello you are worth like 100 million buy some for families that can not afford them. Now I am not saying for everyone just maybe a like some select families or hold a drawing for like 100 ppl or something. They make more than enough money to do that!!

I don't agree with you get paid what you're worth. Stay at home parents don't get paid squat for doing the most important job in a person's life. Teachers don't get paid what they are worth..not even CLOSE

That's why I don't sponsor sports. But it's true, that's what it means to live in a capitalist society!

Why is it up to you or me to decide how much someone else gets paid? I wouldn't want you to vote on how much I get paid.

And specifically for sports and entertainment figures, it's usually only a small portion of what the employer is making from hiring the person. If a ballplayer brings in that many more people to the game in person, increases the amount that TV will pay to show the games, increases the number of souvenirs or other toys that are sold... he might be worth it to the employer. Sure, the employer might be wrong and overpay somebody, but that's their mistake to make.

Yes people deserve what the market will bare.

If something is harder or more important then it should be paid more.

If the hungry are not able to work, then yes feed them otherwise they could get off their butts and work. With more people in the labor pool the salary needed for someone goes down.

It should all balance out, unless what we value as important is messed up.

No way that anyone deserves $28 mil. CEOs should only be paid twice the salary of an entry level employee, as should top level athletes. Endorsements are OK, the companies want to have that endorsement, so pay up!

I think it is easier to justify the salaries of pro athletes than it is for CEOs. Pro athletes create a product that brings enjoyment to millions.

However many times CEOs will show incompetence and get paid millions while the employees/shareholders become worse off.
