I don't believe the majority know the meaning. I also don't believe they care to know the meaning. They have their own interpretation and they are happy with that regardless of what Merriam-Webster defines them as.

I wish that there was an audience for true discussion that was more nonjudgmental and tolerant.

Yes, I know what they mean.

A Protestant is someone who agrees with and follows Martin Luther's split from the Roman Catholic Church in the 16th century.

A Catholic is normally one who is still in the RC Church, but also includes members of the Greek, Armenian and maybe other Catholic Churches.

A Pagan is someone who follows the ancient, pre-Christian European religions, whether Norse, Celtic or whatever.

Faith is "the substance of things unseen, the reality of things yet hoped for", according to the New Testament. It's the assurance that God is real, cares, will work everything out for those who trust Him, and will not let you down.

The Bible - don't you know what that is?

Religious comes from the Latin for "joined back together". It means together with God, but people use it in various ways, including to describe those who try to look religious but are not really.

Well I know the meaning of those words. I'll admit that I'm not super familiar with the inner workings of protestants but I don't generally talk about em much.
