Okay, so god created man and woman. He designed us in his image and put us in paradise, but he thought that it would be cool to have an intelligently designed *smart* function in our brains that could be turned on by eating the fruit of a specific tree. He just says, don't eat from that tree. Now, he knows humans are dumb, and he knows they will eat from that tree, because he knows everything.
He decides to facilitate man eating from that tree by placing a slick talking serpent in paradise with them. He then uses woman, the greatest weakness he intelligently designed for man, to get man to eat that fruit. Remember, God knows everything, so none of this is a surprise to him, he could have kept the serpent out of paradise, but he didn't. Man, who knows nothing, eats the fruit and is enlightened and suddenly knows right from wrong. So god punishes man for the the design flaw and temptations that he gave to man ? How is this loving? It sounds like a set up to me. How about you

If the world exists as Christians see it, the whole thing is a set up.

With all due respect, some of your statements are off the mark.
Eating the fruit of a specific tree would instill nothing in Adam and Eve.
It was just a tree, with no special powers.
It was the act of eating from it, that would be a clear demonstration of disobedience.
This idea of God knowing everything is highly mis-understood.
If God knew you would be a serial killer, so allowed you to die at age 16 .....what would you say?
You would say: "Hey! Gimme a chance, God! You're prejudice."
Even if God knew Adam would be disobedient, God had to let it play out. It had to be demonstrated.
BTW God did not place the slick serpent in the garden. Behind the serpent was the devil and he has free reign in and around the earth. He placed himself there.
Again, God could have stepped in and forced His will to take place. However, if He did, some today would be complaing about that.

This wasn't a set up. God gave man the garden to dress it and keep it. God also put in the garden a tree of knowledge of good and evil, and a tree of life. So Adam had a choice and a freewill to choose. Him and Eve could choose knowledge or life. But with the tree of knowledge came a spiritual death. While with the tree of life, life everlasting. Why didn't the serpent got to Adam first, is that God told Adam directly about the tree of knowledge. So he goes to the weaker vessel. Tempt her into eating the fruit and then Eve tempt man into eating the fruit. What this was about was choices. Do you choose to serve God or not.
That the reason God gave us freewill. He does loves us. But He wants us to love Him by our freewill not His. I hope this helps you out. God bless.

You are reading what the Serpent said, not God, Go back and read what God said, and you will see that he told them not to eat of the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil, the Tree of Knowledge of Good, and evil, could be observed as a persons conscience, God wanted us to be Good, and perfect and gave us that opportunity, it was we who chose death, by having the pride to believe, we knew better than God, our creator, but how many times did you as a child disobey your father,This is why he sent us Jesus, so now we can have Life eternal free of this flesh in our Glorified state forever, with him in Heaven.

It's a great cop out for the God of the bible, no? They ate the fruit so from then on all misery and suffering is man's own fault. "Hey, don't blame me. They ate the fruit!"

Agency. They had a choice whether or not to listen to Lucifer's temptations or not. Adam did not partake of the fruit when tempted by Lucifer, however Eve was beguiled. Adam, in order to obey the rest of Father's commandments, ate the fruit when Eve brought it to him. Had he not, she would have been cast out and died, and Adam would have stayed in a perfect state in the Garden. But they were commanded by God to be fruitful and replenish the earth. Also Adam was told to cleave unto his wife.

You are right, you don't get it. God gave them a choice, he was not controlling, gave them a choice. Satan was the serpent, God did not place the serpent there. He could have kept the serpent out, but gave them a choice. Just like you have the choice right now to believe him or not. Not a set up, a choice, and they made the wrong one.

if you want to look at it that way, it's like telling a kid not to eat cookies but leaving them in a place the kid can find. let's say a friend is visiting and persuades the kid to take a cookie. a parent would still probably punish the kid because it did what was wrong.
a person can influence you to do wrong, but ultimately it is still up to you whether or not to do it. everybody has free will, even if they are pressured.

Some see it as a set up. I see it as a plan to end the rebellion of Lucifer and the consequences of that rebellion once and for all.
