it's like saying that you're going to get married someday. the guy gives it to the girl as a promise that one day she'll be wearing a wedding ring instead of the promise ring. some kids also wear promise rings that have a different meaning. they wear it as a promise that they'll remain virgins until marrige. those rings would usually be given to them by parents or a church.

My understand of a promise ring is it's total crap. In my opition, the only reason a guy gives one out is to break the promise later. That's what i've witnessed over time. Only a few, actually go thru with the promise associated with it.

My boyfriend gave me a promise ring as quickly as we'd been jointly for a 365 days. It means you promise to remain faithful to a long term relationship. It's a high school thing. As you get older you'll find men seem to give jewelry less frequently. But I have to admit the jewelry gets better.
