I am told by Christian women if you dress sexy around Christian men, they cannot be expected to behave, you must be "modest" or they will think and do terrible things, and call you bad names. Why is this?

You have all convinced me that you do not understand men, and you just don't want any competition.

They say that because they realize the power women have. It is all in the woman's hands what will happen or not happen...

Humans are humans. Interesting that you did not mention all other men would react the same way. And what do you mean by "behave?" God created men to be attracted to women. The Bible instructs women to dress modestly because the focus shouldn't be on them. It should be on God. A man may stumble, but the Bible says, don't let it be because of you. Granted, men have to grow to the point where seeing low-cut tops, skin-tight or see-through clothes or micro-minis don't affect them at all, but until then.... If you are so immune to this particular temptation, maybe you should encourage a man you're attracted to, to come to church without a shirt on. If it has no effect on you, he can do it every Sunday.

Christian women are familiar with all sins man is capable of, including lust. Christian men still have a sinful nature until death that constantly torments them by temptation. Women have the same nature, but often are not as compelled by lust as men are. These sinful natures are not easily controlled, even when we love Christ. We try hard, but still slip. Many times we learn the hard way to control ourselves, after sin trips us up.
But never suppose that Christian men want to give in to lust, if they truly love Christ. Society was never designed by God to include the temptations the world displays today. Even TV commercials now are great sources of temptation to men and women. (think Victoria's Secrets)
What the Christian woman is trying to tell you in a round about way, is that women who dress like a harlot, contrary to the Lord's teaching, are out of His will and asking for trouble.. If a man approves of this type of dress in any woman, especially his wife, rest assured he is not a true Christian. You can't have it your way and God's way at the same time.
Christian women are not afraid of their men slipping if their husband is truly in the Lord, they are just hinting that you dress inappropriately.

The Bible doesn't say that you have to wear robes like they did in biblical times. It does speak of modesty, however. (I Timothy 2:9, for example)
As Christians, we are called to think of others first. When one dresses provocatively, they are really saying, "Look at my sexiness! Aren't I all that?" If a Christian man then looks at her and because she's "advertising," she may cause her brother to stumble by lusting after her.
Paul taught this, "The right thing to do is to avoid eating meat, drinking wine, or doing anything else that makes your brother stumble or become upset or weak." (Romans 14:21)

Sorry, haven't heard that one.
I happen to be married to a wonderful Christian man and what you were told makes no sense.
And he's not the only Christian man I've ever been around.
We should dress modestly cause that's what the Bible says - well, yes.
We should also dress modestly for self respect. Personally, I don't like walking around looking like I'm trying to lure a man. That's sick!
And what man would want a woman who wants all to see her goods? Not one with common sense I assure you.

I've never heard that. I dress how I want and my husband loves it...the only time someone might have said something to that effect to me was when a male friend of mine asked me if I could not wear shirts to show off my shoulders around him because he was attracted to shoulders and he was trying to abstain from sex and masterbation until marriage. I wanted to help him in that so I stopped wearing shirts like that around him. No big deal. As for the comment someone wrote about being slaves...all that is in the OT and Jesus came to fulfill the law...most Christians do not believe that women are to be slaves...not unless they're Mormon, JW's, or Amish...and those groups are not considered true Christian.
Lab Grl, you're talking about Muslims right? :oP

Because they have Respect for Man as He was created first & She was created as a "Helper" for man. However, between a "Right Man / Woman" Marriage, there are No prohibitions in the "Privacy of Their Priesthood". This is called "Willing Submission through Impersonal Love" & brings Blessings to the Woman! This does NOT CONDONE ABUSE on the part of the Husband, rather an Appreciation & Strengthening of the Love they share. John

A Christian woman should dress modestly but need to learn how to jump out of the water to get the Christen man's attention who is fishing for a wife. That doesn't mean dressing immodestly. But what is modest to one woman isn't modest to another. So it depends on what the woman thinks is modest.

You are hanging around the wrong people.. If you start dressing sexy, we know that you are not a Christian woman so we either evangelize you or just leave you alone, as no good Christian man wants his wife to dress badly.. Sex is for the bedroom and between a husband and wife and not something that you are showing the whole world..

If you want to first thing people notice about you is to be seen as "sexy" then you are bringing yourself down to a base level. So if someone sees you the way you are presenting yourself, you can't complain.
You will attract a certain type of man, also something you can't complain about. It is not an issue about Christianmen, it is about all men.

I think that is true of everyone, not just Christians.
If you dress provocatively, people are going to think you are..... ( you fill in the blank )
In fact, the Christian men are less inclined to "do terrible things and call you bad names" or otherwise behave inappropriately.
