I have two old guns that have been in my family but are collecting dust. I'm looking for a web site where I can get a ball park figure of what they are worth. Thanks.

There are published gun values guides which will give you sort of a ballpark figure. They are not cheap, so unless you want to own them go to a large bookstore and look them up there, like Barnes and Noble, they don't seem to mind at all if you read books there.

What I do, is check the gun auction sites listed below. Ebay does not allow firearms, so that's no good for you, but theses sites are the "ebay of the gun world". Use the search tools and see what you can find close to yours.

Also, a few of us regulars in this section will give you some good estimates on the value if you ask. Will need to know make, model, caliber, age if known and a really, really good description of the condition. Condition is everything.

Include any and every writing on the gun, except 'x' out the last couple of digits of your serial numbers. Like if the serial number is "25863" give us "25xxx".

The Wicnhester is extremely cool.... they do no longer make the 1894 style anymore, and particularly the older ones have relatively some collector fee. The Marlin rifles are not as acceptable, yet being that previous it remains in all hazard well worth plenty. of direction, this relies upon on the subject, etc. you're superb to pass to a community save, tell them you're no longer interested in merchandising, yet desire an appraisal for insurance purposes. they could teach you a thank you to grade them and locate the values. in case you act such as you are attempting to sell, you will get low-ball numbers. i does no longer sell those.... they are the "cowboy rifles", and in case you carry out somewhat history interpreting you will come to delight in the history, and that i assure you your infants or grandchildren would be satisfied you help them in the kin. Firearms are a different way of connecting on your ancestors.

E-bay does not sell guns.

And in spite of the other advise given, which is pretty much correct, it isn't very helpful.

If you are no experienced in gun values and grades, you will either over value or undervalue your guns. The best bet is to find a reputable gun dealer, one who deals in collectible guns, such as That Scott's Fine Guns, and pay them to make an appraisal. They can't do that via the internet or over the phone. To make a good appraisal, the appraiser will need to hold it in his hands, and know a bit about the provenence of the guns.

Unless they guns are historic, in perfect condition, or highly ornamented, they will probably have a greater sentimental value than monetary value. For example my Grandfather's ancient Hopkins & Allen shotgun is probably worth less than $50.00 cash. I'd not sell it for $1,000.00 because it belonged to Big Daddy and he gave it to me.

Good Luck.

You could just google the manufacturer, caliber, and serical numbers from them. You may come up with a match somewhere that's already for sale.

Good Luck.
