spiritually speaking prayer means silently listening... when the religious pray they over ride what could be heard with their own words...
if you speak when you pray you can't possibly hear?

God doesn't want to hear from you... she expect you to share the new information given... often we receive the answers to our problems... and we are ment to share these answers when someone else with a similar problem talks to you.... using the bible is like saying god hasn't learned anything in 2000 yrs... but the world has changed in that time and so has the problems... so listen for new answers.... don't talk like you know cause you'll miss out on it.

when you are to speak out loud you are to do it to other people that is why there are others around you, again god doesn't need advice from you.

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express” (Romans 8:26).
meditate. shut up for once. humble yourself, or be humbled--although it usually costs less when you do it yourself. kind of like interior design.

You have a point.
But God does want us to use our physical or soul/spirit voice in prayer. And yes, listen for the answer. Whether the answer comes from a physical person or God's Spirit. The Holy Spirit confirms the answer as true.
And praying with others in faith is sometimes praising God, then making known our request and sometimes receiving a Word of Knowledge, etc... in a vision while receiving the interpretation of the vision. That is hearing, listening with our Spiritual ears.
Prayer is communication. It goes both ways. We aren't suppose to do all the talking. We are supposes to just listen sometimes to hear what the Spirit has to say.

How can you believe this for as one person said it is talking to God. He will hear and answer you.

According to the following passage, it means something more than that. In means speaking in an (unknown) tongue, under the unction of the Holy Spirit:
"Therefore let one who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret.
For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.
What is the outcome then? I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with the mind also; I will sing with the spirit and I will sing with the mind also.
Otherwise if you bless in the spirit only, how will the one who fills the place of the ungifted say the "Amen" at your giving of thanks, since he does not know what you are saying?
For you are giving thanks well enough, but the other person is not edified.
I thank God, I (the Apostle Paul) speak in tongues more than you all;
however, in the church I desire to speak five words with my mind so that I may instruct others also, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue.

You must speak or say what you are asking for.
The word must go out of your mouth.
Praying in the spirit means to magnify God by your spirit. Keeping your mind on Jesus and not anything else. Letting the Holy Ghost lead us.

Prayer or whatever you call it is cycling mental energy with the noosphere, It collimates your mind and that is where the asking and answering may be done.
I have found that frequently people talk so that they do not have to listen. This is in all walks of life.

Of course you're right. If you listen closely, you can hear the wind blowing, cars going by, maybe an airplane overhead, kids playing in the street.

Prayer is going to Almighty God and having a conversation with Him. Yes we must also listen. But God wants us to talk to Him.
Jesus said "You have not because you ask not, and when you ask, you ask amiss that you might consume it in your lusts".

Were you looking for an actual number?
Or are you providing an answer for a question nobody asked?
