I read that the act of eating an apple is more effective than caffeine at waking you up. I tried it and it works. Eat an apple! And then have a starbucks with a double shot of espresso if you're still dragging. I'm also a firm believer in working up a sweat. My grandma used to say, "You don't need coffee or a nap, just work up a sweat and you'll perk right up." She was right!! Eat an apple and get some exercise.

is this because you are trying to stay awake after your body says its time to give up and sleep? The body needs a certain amount of sleep to keep it funtioning properly.
I have a problem where even if I have had enought sleep certain foods like sugar and carbohydrates will make me sleep and whatever I do it does not work. If its that then a visit to the doctor may be in order.
If its neither of these try exercise and fresh air

Caffeine (coffee, tea, cola, red bull) is the obvious answer. But why not try a power nap ? Set an alarm for 20 minutes hence (there's one on your mobile phone, probably) and lie down for 20 minutes. Tell yourself that you must fall aslepp now.
If you're tired, your body will benefit from the rest, but you should still be able to sleep tonight. But it may have the opposite effect - as soon as you lie down - you'll be wide awake - problem solved !

Are you excessively sleep deprived? Because no amount of caffeine, fruit, exercise and temperature extremes can take the place of some good quality sleep...
But if you do get plenty of sleep and still feel drowsy quite often, make an appointment with your GP. Ongoing tiredness (if there is no obvious cause, i.e. late nights) can be a sign of illness.

Try exercising. It gives off endorphins in your body, which gives you energy. This is the best source to create more natural energy. Caffeine only works for a short period of time and if you're like most, you get all that sweet crap in it, which defeats the purpose because you come crashing down hard from the sugar high and get even more tired.

sleep more. Drink some coffee. I read in a health magazine that eating an apple is actually a more effective way to wake up then then drinking a cup of coffee

vitamins help increase energy. sleep-apnea is not likely, because that is when you stop breathing in your sleep. Maybe insomnia. if you overdo the caffine, you will get a headache. maybe you should go see a sleep doctor. there are other problems that could be the cause of your problem.

It might sound silly, but getting up from your chair and walking about briskly can help! It increases your heart rate and gets your blood circulating.
