Atheists who are former Christians are those who never really became a Christian, there are a few of them in churches today.

We see what you can't - hence the question

How would you know that? Did God one day said that you know everything because you are atheist? So you can tell me if I'm going to Heaven or not? You can tell me what my heart is and my thoughts? It sounds to me like you are putting you in God's seat. I'm a Christian! and I'm glad to be one.

I have known both sides. I grew up in a christian home, had all kinds of religious teachings. I chose to become an atheist...I have never been happier in my life. I have been atheist for about 15 years.
Maybe you should cross the road and experience my side :-)

Funny, because most atheists are former Christians. Most atheists actually know both sides.

I have yet to meet one Christian who was a former atheist. Christians don't know both sides, most even refuse to understand there are more than two sides.

For the rest, cute story. False, but very cute.

Er, kid, you've got it backwards.

Most atheists used to be believers. We're the ones who have seen things both ways, and figured it out. It's the believers who only look at things from the one side, having never given real consideration to the possibility that there isn't any god.

Just look at the responses here. The atheists understand the believers' position, and simply have good arguments against the believers' claims. The believers, on the other hand, obviously haven't ever thought much about their beliefs, and have no good arguments to support them.

Shouldn't that tell you something about who is right?

"We see what you can't - hence the question"

Yet you can't ever give an example - hence the answers.

I've never seen a believer here point to something that he or she understood but the nonbelievers didn't that supports belief in gods. If you had anything like that, you'd have posted it, rather than posting a silly child's story.

On the flip side, countless believers have posted Pascal's Wager as though it were a real argument, have argued that people wouldn't believe if it weren't true, that they wouldn't have given their lives if it weren't true, that the existence of the universe proves the existence of god, and dozens of other similar things, all of which we nonbelievers saw right through.

If one were to characterize the argument here it would have to be "large numbers of believers who don't understand much about religion arguing with nonbelievers who do".

I'm sure you won't change your mind, but you're simply wrong, and clearly unable to support your position at all. Think about it.

See now as a former fundie, who was oh so joyful in the lord and couldn't understand why anyone wouldn't want to be just like me, I suggest to you that "Some things you just have to live through to understand."

That was a horrible joke.

What makes you think Athiests have no knowledge of religion? I was Christian for the first 13 years of my life. I know what it is like. I've done my research and made my own decisions. The bible doesn't make sense to any rational free thinking adult. Proceed with the thumbs down you morons, while I continue to plot ways to exploit your ignorance for my own personal gain.

as an agnostic, I could never understand why anyone would want to live forever. Even Heaven would become Hell after a few trillion years or so.

Gee, that was stupid.

Incidentally, I'll go head-to-head with you any time on religion, and I'll wipe the floor with you. I'm fairly certain I know more about Christianity than you ever will. Hence my atheism.

I didn't cross a road to become an atheist. I just used my common sense!
