No, you don't need a replacement for him. If a good person comes along and plays the father role well, that's good, but don't go LOOKING for someone.
Creeps and pedophiles look for people in your position. If you are looking for a father for your child, you leave yourself open for these predators to hone in.
Just love your child and allow friends and family to help. If theres a blank spot on the certificate, so be it.
I don't know about the legal stuff about getting your ex to sign him off because the laws are different in each state. I suggest going to your county courthouse for details.

I am praying for you, It will be hard but I think you need to be honest and tell her she may pick up on it later on in life if you don't. How doesn't Jeanie like grandpa? Or with the DNA testshe can get a copy of that since its her dna tested ( probably at like 18 though. ) Jeanie was probably threatened beaten and sexualy abused by her father all at once and she is scared of him. Make sure she is safe there and May need an order of protection against him from every going around you all. Are jeanies parents still together? Jeanies mom wants to point blame on everyone else but who is the one - ones really guilty of the crime. Being honest and tell you daughters counsers to better help her as well as you all being there for each other. Heather

Was paternity ever established between your ex and your son? Did they ever do a blood test? If not than its basicly like he doesnt exhist to whatever state you reside in. However he does have the right to demand a paternity test be taken and prove that he is your sons father which will then give him parental rights. What I mean by parental rights, is that he has legal right to see his son, but he cant just take him from you unless he goes to court and prove you unfit.
What I would do is, go to a lawyer and have papers drawn up giving you full custodial rights and your ex giving up all of his paternal rights then have him sign it and have it notarized. This way you have something documented in case in the future he does have a paternity test done and tries to get custody.

I think you should take sometime for youself and youre son. No one can fill that spot right away .When you meet a new guy then maybe that spot will be filled. Just enjoy being a mom right now and dont worry you are the only person he needs right now.And please consider to get the rights to you through family court im a mom i know these things. Do it before he does something. Yours truly Emma

The court won't allow termination of paternal rights, due to welfare responsibility. However, if he's not on the birth certificate you don't have a problem unless he contests it. I'd just move.

He can terminate his parental rights and leave you as the sole parent, no father needed.
That means you accept that he will never have any financial responsibility to your son but he will also have no rights regarding him.

It does not work like that. The father has rights until he gives them up or a court takes them away. You need to get him to commit to doing something one way or another.
If you had stuck to chicks, this wouldn't have happened :)
