Or do fundamentalists believe that the human condition is no better today than it was 200 years ago?

I think God must have really had it out for people who lived prior to the scientific revolution.

Fundies have always been anti progress. I suggest the book Stealing Jesus: How Fundamentalism Betrays Christianity
by Bruce Bawer for details.

For the record, I think science increases appreciation for God's work, not decreases it.

God is holy- man invents many devices. The two are not related. The thing that enhances and saves lives happened 2000 years ago. His name is Jesus Christ.
If you do not choose Him, God has no choice but to judge you as a rebel. One sacrifice once and for all. God does NOT have it out for anybody! He is love! The way to intimacy with God has been provided. Scientific revolution has it's benefits but it has little of nothing to do with the plan of God and promotion of the Kingdom of Heaven.

One very easy answer... God grants us all a free will. We are free to do what we will, though there is always a consequence to the action. God wants the best for us.
The Bible says Quote " Without Holiness, no one will see the Lord" but he is like a loving Father, who cares for even a disobedient child. Love is unlimited, but The father must give rules for the safety of his Children etc.

To compensate for the fact that we are inherently less healthy than in previous generations. Besides human actions that have had a negative effect on general health trends, such as sexual promiscuity, homosexuality, alcohol and other recreational drugs, our genetic code has been breaking down since the beginning of the race.

This phenomenon is the exact opposite of evolution, that millions believe in. The human race has been subject to genetic mutations for thousands of years. Rather than "evolving" immunities to various diseases and conditions, we have become subject to such conditions as cancer and diabetes. Thankfully, science can give us some degree of treatment for these afflictions.

Hmmmm. I'm surprised I didn't see the word "evil" in your question as well. What is being ignored by the bible thumpers is that we are born with "free will". What this means is that most of us have the freedom and intellect to make choices. However, christians make their choices from a list that actually precludes freedom of choice. However, my theory is that christians are caught up in the belief that they have "power over". Collectively, globally, christians represent, the greatest number of the population. These religious zealots are "tunnel visioned, close minded, smug, self righteous, hypocritical and delusional.

I think that is making the population grow out of control. People are going hungry in some parts of the world. Water is getting less and less. I dont know what the human being wants anymore.

Our intellect is a gift from God. The discovery of medicine and the like. It is unlikely of God to take away the gift he has given to us.

Another, remember also that there are so many people still reamaining to be faithful to God. Doesn't they deserve something good?

Hi

The Bible said this sort of thing would happen in the time of the end. See Daniel 12:4 KJV.

It is used as one of the signs that the end is near.

Take Care

it is usually the wickedness of people that God frowns on. A lot of people make money on what they sell. If we lived right there would not be so many diseases.
