I volunteer to decorate the bulletin board at church. The other day I put one up that has brightly green background paper with musical instruments on it. I added verses about making a joyful noise unto the Lord and I added lyrics from different songs. On the display table I added a mini organ, mini piano, bells, mini drums, angel figurines, etc. etc. A woman at the church acted funny, i could see the look on her face and I picked up a bad vibe from her when she read one of the lyrics. I had written "Forever I am saved by your love" in reference to Christ's love for us. Then I added brightly colored strings of lace to the table and she acted like that was wrong to do that. I just wanted it to be festive and joyful. The object was that the Lord gives us many muscial talents and we should use our talents for the Lord. What do you think? Was I wrong with the way I decorated? Serious replies only please!

I don't think there is a thing wrong with it. It sounds beautiful. In fact, I think i'll let our decorating lady know that as well. It sounds wonderful. People are different and she may not agree with it at first but don't let her sour outlook spoil the joy you feel. It sounds beautiful so hold your head high and know you've inspired someone!

Why do you choose not to believe in Shiva? Or Odin? How about Zeus? Well, champ, we don't believe in yours for the exact same reason- there's no evidence it exists. End of story. I don't believe in fairies or unicorns or leprechauns either, and won't without proper evidence. And sorry, but I have a great life and am very happy. Know when I was depressed and unhappy? All those years I was a Christian. I don't know what's sadder- that you thought this nonsense was in any way convincing or that you actually believe any of it makes logical sense.

Do not pay any attention to her. There is an underlying reason, she was tempted by the Evil One for some reason and mostly that is to completely ruin the volunteer spirit that you have. There are people like her in EVERY Church. She gives the saying "Never does a good deed go unpunished" credence huh? It sounds wonderful, and keep up the good work.

P.S. Forgive her because I doubt she even realizes what she does.

The Lord sees your heart, so what matters is your intention. Since your intention was good and sincere, I don't think you did anything wrong. The lady can look and judge whatever way she wants, so don't worry about her.
If you feel comfortable, go to her and ask her if she found anything wrong with your decoraton just as a humbleness exercise. However, if I were you, I would worry about pleasing God and not about getting the approval of all the people around me.

I think it sounds like you did GREAT.

Psalm 100

Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with Thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise,
Be thankful to Him and bless His name.
For the Lord is good;
His Mercy is everlasting,
And His true endure to all generations.

I love this psalm, it makes me smile, much like your bulletin board would make me smile and be joyful.
God does give us musical gifts and we should use our talents for the Lord.

Blessings to you

When God gives anyone a talent, especially a Christian we can not hide it, rather it be the 9 spiritual gifts or some other talent, The bible speaks of some that he has given talents to & the one that he gave one talent to, went & hid it, Jeus said Take that talent from him & give it to the ones that used their talent. Just as long as whatever you put up is scriptural & clean, Go for it. You are going to get someone to complain no matter what you put up.

No, you weren't in the least bit wrong. It sounds like the lady who gave you a dirty look has evil in her heart. Or, it could be she was just having a bad day. Either way, you weren't wrong in anything you did.

God did bless us with many musical talents and we're to use them to glorify Him. You did the right thing. Keep fighting the good fight.

No you were not wrong dear keep it up! God knows why you do what you do, and if it is to glorify him do everything you can! If someone is judging you by doing that pray for them they are wrong not you! Just because we are Christians does not mean we don't like color, or pretty things, and besides someone will get blessing from the lyrics you added! God Bless you.

Light, i see absolutely nothing wrong with the way you decorated it. I really don't. Either the woman is jealous, old fashioned, or she recognized something about you. I'll tell you what i hear but i don't want you to be offended. E-mail me if you want to know. Otherwise i'll just pray. keep serving the lord.

That lady can look funny all she wants. You weren't wrong unless you went against Scripture. If she can prove you did, that's one thing. But many people allow their personal beliefs interfere with what's Biblical. Pay her no mind. Decorate as the Spirit leads you.
