but it just doesn't make any sense, alone, if you just say, f.instance;
Ella vaya... (subjunctive for she goes). It does NOT mean She goes. It's only as part of a constructed sentenced when it has full sense; No me importa que ella vaya al cine. That's the translation for I don't mind her going to the cinema.
It's how it works. Subjunctive is not something that you can just pick up and choose to use that mode... it follows certain rules. The above sentence is an example of how an english sentence is translated to spanish using subjunctive, because only subjunctive is allowed in that case. You can't say "va" (indicative) instead of "vaya"(subjunctive) in that sentence.

I am certain that you have a list of these forms in your textbook and/or your dictionary. I will point out, though, that the verbs speak and sing are not irregular, so they are giving you a couple of freebies.
