I was told my neighbour was going to be given a beating for anti-social behaviour, should I tell him or inform police.
Or should I let on I don't know incase of any come back.

I am a 44 year old living in a bad neighbourhood.
Also have a heart condition.

This is a toughie. I called the cops on a fight that was happening once, and oddly enough the cops called me back later that night to tell me what happened and why they were fighting. THat scared me to death because I felt that if they told me about it then did they tell them who called. On the other hand they fight was broken up and it turned out one guy was trying to molest the 14 year old. This was in New Zealand so it may be different there on how the police work.

I think that in the end you should do what's right and atleast you could say you did the right thing and that you were only trying to help.

I would maybe inform the police. If he has been in trouble for anti-social behaviour they will know him and sort it out. Don't get involved personally because you don't need any comeback if the neighbourhood is that bad. Better to let the police handle it.

Have a chat to your local Neighbourhood policing unit at your nearest police station in your area (UK) or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and you can remain anonymous and also you could receive a reward up to £500 if the person(s) are convicted of the crime.

I would send an anonymous call to the police just to let them know but don't get involved to much with it all because you don't want suspicions coming back on you! Just inform the police and let them handle it. You back off for your safety and well being.

I believe part of the problem is we don't know our neighbors or our community anymore. We go home and stay in the house because it is to dangerous to sit on the front porch, and we are afraid of any comeback. The police can't help if no one communicates with them, this includes giving witness information. Maybe if someone takes the first step others will follow.

the best thing to do is not to inform anyone including the police as i got some preatty nasty experiences in such hoods.what goes around comes back around and am not trying to scare you but there is always a leak somewhere and the bad guys tend to know who gave them up,and when they do they will hunt you down need i not tell you what they might do to you as in they will not be concerned with your age nor medical condition.let the guy get taught a lesson because am sure he/she had to comit unbelievable ''sin'' to be the victim of society punishment.just let it go.

i think you have to be very careful. How many people know about this? If you notify the police then i would say make it anon, but this will only protect you if there are other people that know this is going to happen.Would it be obvious that it was you who notified the police? You have to put your safety first. Unfortunately the system doesn't always protect the innocent so you have to look after yourself first and foremost.

Inform the Local Police and Higher Officers and also to Media, as a safe side.
