Check out the Optoma HD-70. It's about $1000 (street price) and has had lots of excellent reviews. I haven't seen it myself yet but it sounds promising. The contrast ratio is 3000:1 and the audible noise is 28 db. It isn't the brightest on the market at 100 ansi lumens but if you have a room that you can control the light (heavy curtains) then the brightness should be fine.

I prefer the Epson myself. Great picture up to 1080i and for about $600 bucks you can't beat it ino.

However, projectors are a dime a dozen like everyhting else so it kind of depends what you're going to use it for.

Hi. I don't think there is best projector in the $1000 range. Several of them are fairly equal in quality with maybe different features ,specifications etc.It all depends on what features you want.Anyway i'll mention some in that price range (r.r.p.) and see if one interests you.
