That's a Top Contributor badge. There is much discussion in some circles as to how you get such a badge, and how you lose it once you have it. It's not just the number of points you have, as you can see if you look at the leaderboard. And it's not based solely on the percentage of best answers, although it does seem to be based on some formula that incorporates both of those factors with some other variable, perhaps how often you have been reported for violations.
I've got one myself and that's the best I can tell you. But then, I also have a Plexiglas award (received at the first birthday party in Sunnyvale last December) that says it's for Community Leadership, and I never did get an explanation of that, either.

Hahahaha Vicky! sturdy question. i glance better in genuine existence than in photographs (so i'm instructed - attractiveness is this manner of subjective term) yet yeah, there are some people who've that "one sturdy" image that they placed up everywhere - and the reality is that image is ten years previous! I hate fake promoting. Its better if the guy (or lady) is cuter in guy or woman.

Top Contributor badge. It means the person is someone who is knowledgeable in a particular category as per y!a definition. If you are active in a certain category and have answers that are picked as best answer for that category, it will just pop up under your name...and at other time too, y!a takes it back from you...lol...

Basically, answer a certain number of questions in any category in a short period of time and you'll get one. You can have one for up to three categories, but only one orange badge will show up under your avatar.
They're designed to reward people for being valuable members of the Y! Answers community.

top contributor badge that tells other that you're actively involved in the sections, one can be a top contributor in a maximum of 3 sections. it doesnt really mean you're the top contributor in the section though, it's a misnomer in that sense.
