It goes something like this, P R N D (with square around it) D 2 1

if you go left to right, should I primarily drive in the D right after N with square around it, or the D that comes right before 2.

Generally, automatic transmissions come in 4-speed (1 2 D and D with the circle) The D with the circle stands for overdrive. It really doesn't matter which one you drive in.

Yes, the "D" with the O around it stands for overdrive. Usually, you can drive in Overdrive as it will not use your overdrive gear unless you are driving at a speed high enough to use it. Around town, where you don't really get up to 50 + it doesn't matter I usually just have it in Overdrive.

Your 4th gear, the overdrive gear is a gear that has a lower fluid flow in the transmission and is designed for long drives at a mostly common speed on the highway. The fluid flow in the transmission is what lubricates and cools the internal parts, so when pulling something such as trailers or boats, you never want to have it in overdrive, you can easily tear up your transmission as this high gear is not designed to have added weight in addition to the weight of the vehicle.

Drive with the trans in the D with the square around it. It is in overdrive and will get better gas mileage. When pulling a trailer or boat I would drive with the trans in the D position until you are out on the open road then put it in square D. Go to D if on roads with lots of hills.

all that is is an over drive with square around it and it is better to drive with that it will be better when driving and when you just use the D that is if you are going up an incline and drive 1 and 2 are for going up steep hills it just keeps the transmission from switching gears will give you more power
so you want to drive with the over drive right after neutral

d with the square around it is the overdrive, it will give you better fuel economy on the highway, but in the city it wont matter much if you have it in the regular d. most people keep it in overdrive all the time.

distinctive IS it is going to cut back ENGINE LOAD and you will see THE RPM differences. IT in basic terms artwork ABOVE 50 MPH. in case you force YOUR automobile IN D place AT fifty 5 MPH, SHIFT THE motor vehicle TO the different sq. D (OVERDRIVE) AND THE ENGINE velocity WILL cut back OR THE RPM GAUGE WILL decrease.

if in town 30-35 mph- D

on the road , 45+ sustained for a while- D square - - - - that's your overdrive

and much better mileage

try going to 55 in D - listen to your engine - -
then shift to D square - hear the RPM's go down??

NOW - don't do this in a 30 mph zone !!!!!!!

hahahahaha - enjoy
