With proper ventilation, it can withstand that kind of service. Because the laptop has poor ergonomics, what will most likely happen are:
1. 4 people w/ back neck and shoulder pains.
2. 4 people w/ signs of Carpal Tunnel syndrome (wrist pain).

You should be using a desktop. Otherwise put that laptop on top of tel directory or books so that the top of the screen is at eye level. Attach a normal keyboard that should be on a tray so that arms are horizontal (parallel to floor). Mouse should be large and also at the tray. Now, you could really enjoy surfing the net. But do not forget micro-breaks at 30 minute intervals; good for the eyes also.

Ventilation is the key here - use a small desktop fan to blow cold air on it or better still you should invest in a laptop cooler; these coolers also raise the laptop at an angle making it more comfortable to use; they usually have extra usb slots too - you can find one similar to the one below in most pc shops

It seems you are the only sensible one in the house! Excessive heat can damage a laptop.

As long as it is not sitting on something soft that will stop the airflow it should be fine.

Like other machinery the pressure comes when it is switched on to boot up and when it is switched off.
