Yes. infact in my case my wife was pretty reluctant to start off but I would not have any of it as I was sure that it would give her those moments which we all desire in solitude.
Though these are not the only reasons it was definitely on the top. In addition it is more important for the wife to start the career after a few years of Child birth. You may call me a male chauvinist, but then again that is the way the cookie crumbles luv.
So please do give importance for your family but always keep trying to identify the means for starting a career albeit not too demanding. I wouldnt want my wife coming back home all stressed out. I would go and kill her boss or who ever is stressing her out. So stay cool and have fun.

Allow? see that is a "Feminine Mistake" to assume a man allows a woman to work or stay home. I am an active duty Marine and my fiance stays home with my daughter, weve been dating for four years, he got out of the service and is looking for a better job, neither agree that a man or woman should stay home. If one stays at home one feels frustrated and the other partner resents that person for financial reasons or whatever other, it can become a burden also if the relationship goes sour you are stuck with no skills and no work history to get a good decent job. Man or woman, usually women fall for that trap of staying home, you can work and be a good mom and good wife/partner. Sacrifices will always be made, and if you want a healthy life, neither should be staying home for more than a year and supporting eachothers career is a way to a long healthy marriage, even after the children are long gone. We both agree neither should stay home.

Why are you asking the guys?
Shouldn't the question be: Wives would you choose a career or choose to stay home?
How come after marriage a spouse loses the ability to make a decision for themselves?
Shouldn't this be a topic discussed and agreed upon before marriage?

Certainly. Many couples today both work outside the home, have their own careers and maintain successful marriages.
My wife and I both have our own careers, raised 2 children and enjoy life.
Don't try to control your wife and tell here she must stay home. If you do the marriage most likely will not last.

I think most women will have a problem with that word "allow". No man "owns" anybody. When you are a parent you have that responsibility of what you will or will not "allow" your children to do. This is one of the reasons for divorce. A grown woman that is responsible enough to take care of kids, does not need a man to tell her what she can or cannot do.

Why is it when the woman stays home and the man works its ok.....But when the man stays home and the woman works, it so wrong?
I'm all for my wife to start her career! 2 incomes are better than 1.

Allow? Allow...
What a messed up concept. Marriage is (or should be) a partnership in which both parties jointly determine how it will be managed. It's not the husband playing daddy and deciding what the wife will do.

I'm with Isadora, ALLOW???
I'm sorry are you not living in a westernized country? A place where women legally have equal rights and are not property?
If not, then perhaps this is not a good question to put on this site.
If you DO live in such a country, what the hell?
Who would marry you?
