Sex is great and it is important. Mixed with all the other ingredients such as commitment, passion, respect, friendship and love, it's embrosia, the food of the Gods. Alone, it destroys rather than enriches life.

I'm glad you've found a relationship that you are happy in, I hope it lasts and that you grow together over the years, however that is not always the way things go. I had a relationship, a marriage, kids. As we grew older we went in different directions, we both changed and it was clear that we didn't want the same things from life. We made the decision to divorce and each seek our own lives. the best decision for us, and for our children. They then had two happy parents, albeit not living in the same house. Instead of two unhappy people putting on a front. Since then I've met a few people and tried a couple of longish relationships. Now however I've decided that I prefer to have my Independence and I've found myself a couple of FB's that feel the same way. We have great times, no strings, never an argument. I have extremely high self esteem, as do they. They know the situation and are happy with it.
Just because my life doesn't conform to the norm doesn't mean that I have no self worth. Don't be so quick to judge others, remember that it our variety that makes us special.

Nick and I have found true love in each other! We have to wait - not interested in quickies (offers have been there!). At the moment we are living quite a distance apart - but have contact through emails, texts and calls. It wont be for much longer - and the day Nick arrives at Heathrow will be the most fantastic day of my life!

TRUE LOVE IS WORTH THE WAIT

Lol, I didn't realise I was in the minority, having found my someone special...!!!

Personally, couldn't do it myself, I think a one night thing would make me feel cr@p afterwords.

Plus, love really does make luvvin sooo much better, why settle for less?? My boyfriend knows exactly what to do to turn me on - no stranger would, would they?

Instant gratification requires less effort than getting to know someone, sharing yourself with them, and maintaining a relationship. Also some people aren't looking for a relationship, just a hook-up.

I have never had a one night stand and never would, I have to much respect for myself, my best friend on the other hand has had many and does regret it but still does it anyway, she does it to make herself feel attractive and that she is wanted by men as she is very insecure. I am sure its not the same for everyone.

as the sounds of it you seem to think everybody should just settle for a relationship just to be in a relationship. Not everybody gets along and some are picky and a lot of people just have a one nighter to pass time while looking for love

As you say, some people are finding it hard to look for love. It is because of fear. Fear of being rejected, being betrayed. Fear of not being able to keep the loved one close. Low self esteem makes them wanting to find the "easy" solution. No commitment, no obligations, no giving yourself to someone.

maybe some people settle for less because they have low self esteem and feel they can't get anything better. or maybe they have to settle for less cause no one else will take a second glace at them, only they know.
