Well, it's time to finally upgrade my slow-azz 1.3 mhz motherboard to a faster one. Does anyone have any good suggestions, comments, tips before I blindly pick and have one installed? Anything I need to watch for? Anything I need to know before I do it? The good products? FYI: I'm doing this mostly to help with my online gaming. =)

Hi there.

Somehow, I don't think 1.3 is slow. My suggestion to make it faster is to upgrade your RAM to 1G whether you use DDR or SDRAM. Also, you can do what they call "clocking" if you know to make it faster. My PC is now only 1.4 (Pentium), it don't give me any prob so far.

Well, in case of you really want to upgrade, this is something that you need to know.

1. It is not the motherboard that decide your computer speed, but it is your CPU and your RAM. If you just upgrade your mobo, your computer speed will still be the same, as your CPU not been change.

Example: Your CPU is 1.3, with ABC brand mobo. You buy the latest DEF mobo, still, it can't match with your CPU as 1.3 is consider as OLD CPU.

2. Any motherboard will be fine, but the CPU must come with a good one. I would suggest Pentium Core2 with Hyper Trading.

3. Upgrade also your RAM to 512mb or 1G.

This is what you need to ensure that your PC gonna be speed up.

But, just for your info, to buy a mobo and CPU, it already nearly the same as you buy a new computer. Then, I would like to suggest, you just buy a new computer. No need upgrade.
