That is why there is what we call defense. Let's put it like this. You have a problem. You wanna get through it. And you got through it. The problem is the defense. The problem solver is good offense and some luck to shoot the ball.

And it's not just simply putting the ball into the basket. I bet you can't even shoot a 3.

Why do you think people enjoy seeing other people box when brawling or rioting or killing or mugging is illegal?

Why do people want to strike and put down some silly looking pins with a big ball?

Why do people want to watch movies when they know it's fake?

Professional basketball players are among the most skilled athletes in the world. Do you know how hard it is to consistently put the ball in the hoop? The hoop is only slightly larger than the ball. In soccer the goal is huge.

Basketball is pure entertainment with much more drama than anything Hollywood can come up with. You can't predict exactly what is going to happen during any given game. It is rare that a movie totally surprises me.

When they walk back to their seats, they are trying to intimidate their opponents and get the rest of the team excited. Its a mental game as well as physical.

Anytime you can get paid serious money, you should take things very seriously. That is true for anything. The market is there for these guys to play basketball and get paid well for it. Why shouldn't they take advantage of it?

No.... For me sports is the ultimate form of entertainment. This is not make believe, everything that happens on that court was not rehearsed before it was supposed to happen.

Tell me, how many defining moments have you witnessed in the NBA or any professional sports, how many great plays, how many inspiring acts that leaves its thousand audience at awe? No single movie can recreate the emotional surge I feel for every buzzer beaters, for kobe's 81, for t-macs 13 in 35, for mjs last second heroics, for every underdog wins, for nash's on court magic, for carter's inhuman dunks and for every unbelievable moment that sports fans all over the world search desperately at youtube to witness.

To think that what these athletes do as silly is ridiculous. Shooting some ball through a hoop might be pointless for some casual fan, but not me... I understand how much passion they have for this silly game.

Dear mysterious,

No not at all. i think guys especially have been playing competitive sports since they are young- and so first for those who have made it ot the highest level- (IE: NBA) they are fulfilling lifelong dreams that so many long to achieve.

Obviously there are more important things in life than basketball but that can be said for almost anything. i pay good money to see people who take their game seriously and play hard to win--- like to see more of that from my Lakers next year!!!

Not at all, it is entertainment and it is their job. Do you also think movies are stupid? They are "pointless" in that they don't accomplish anything necessary. I would much rather watch a good basketball game then this other crap on tv such as american idol and who wants to be smarter than a 5th grader. The only pro sport i think it truly silly would have to be nascar, i mean come one, that is lame.
