Books, news, sharing with others, and being open minded all contribute to making a person knowledgeable and not ignorant in life. Never stop growing and learning.

Being a true adult helps. A knowledgeable person is aware of the life around him and seeks truth and is open to new ideas. I think this kind of person is also NOT politically correct, because that can stifle free discussion of thoughts and ideas. However, this person is also kind and thoughtful to others and is honest in his dealings with others. Shall I go on???

I think it's about the knowledge we learn from others as we grow into adulthood. Or one can argue that it's about genetics. Will we ever know? I've seen people who have been horribly abused as a child to grow up into kind, compassionate adults, while others go on to become the abusers themselves. I've seen children who came from warm, loving environments, who grew up becoming very nasty adults. Why? It's all in how we handle each situation given to us that makes us into the person we are today.

'Cultivation' is the key word. It's deep and profound. It's a person's constant improvement of himself/herself, constantly improving one's moral, virtue, conduct and behaviour and constantly striving to temper his will and exercising every constrait on the demons of lust, greed, selfishness, etc.

A cultivator is clear about his existence in life, the reason for living and walks an upright path towards the saving of humanity, to relieve the sufferings of the poor...
Whats the essence of cultivation?

"Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance". It is the truth/nature of the universe. It is what the world's people have come to seek upon tens of millions of wait. It is the arrival of what religions, myths, prophosies have foretell since the beginning of time...

In fact, to cultivate is to return to one's origin....
These are my own words/understanding and do not represent the profound inner meaning of cultivation.

Interesting question, but poorly put. A person is a person if human. What makes a GOOD person? A valuable person? Which do you mean?
