Im amazed at how many Iranians are so upset about the movie.
It makes one wonder, do they really think space aliens invaded earth and were defeated after watching the movie "independance day "
Or that America really has " Men in Black " who monitor space aliens here on earth?
Face it, in real life, the Persians weren't invading Greece to free the people of Sparta and Athens.
They invaded to take control of Greece and expand their empire.
Of course if you read Iranian history, those 300 mean ole Spartans were trying to prevent Persia from bringing enlightenment, peace and prosperity to the peoples of Greece. And savagely murdered thousands of Persian soldiers who simple wanted to hug the Greeks in Sparta and Athens.

It was terrible. Historically inaccurate, poor acting, one cliche after another. If you just want action, it was basically just a copy and paste of Lord of the Rings. Hell, the Persian army even had orcs and a cave troll!
Stick to the movie about the 300 spartans that was made in the 50's or 60's.

It does not show the real history and mostly it tries to show the persians as some barbarians and uncivilized people while at that time as you may now Persia had got a very civilized society and Cyrus the Great was the first who prepared the human rights prism.
For those who are not familiar with Persian history it is quite harmful and full of lies but from just movies point of view its special effects and movie tricks are great and admirable.
Such sort of admirable special effects should not be mixed with reality in a fake mood.
As an Iranian , I am very ashamed that all the people of the world specially Americans and Europeans can not travel easily to Iran to see the very real Iran in person and they are all influenced by such kind of movies like 300 and the stupid Iranian present government as the representative of Iranian people and culture to judge about Iran.
Suppose a dumb man who can not present himself in the public due to his lack of ability in speaking and he hires someone to present him but that man present the dumb in a way that he prefers and likes not in a way that the dumb really is.People of Iran are like that dumb man and the present government of Iran is like that hired person with this difference that the rulers of Iran are blind and deaf as well. They can just talk!

Wow, go and see this flick. Just remember that its a comic adaptation of an actual event. The cast is well picked with no eskimo in the desert miscasting. And kudos to David Wenham.

Just a movie.
Just an entertainment show.
The actors and all the extras has to survive with bills and mortgage to pay living in misery out there.

the whole story didnt quite make sense to me until the very end. But at the end, when I DID figure it out, all the pieces of the puzzle were put together and I thought it was an AWESOME movie.
