Your experience with it will teach you how to manage it. We humans are very emotional, so our moods go up and down with the mercury. As you learn to observe yourself, which the therapy will be a big part of, you will learn to think something like: "Gee, I'm really depressed today. Well, I'll be feeling much better later today, so I'm not going to dwell on this feeling." Then you go on to do the next thing on your "To Do" list. Once you become more comfortable with doing this, you will find it will change any dark mood fairly quickly. This is something most of us have to learn to do, you are not alone among us, you are part of us.

Start with evaluating when you feel the worse. Most manic depressives don't sleep enough and that can cause your mood swings to be even worse. Cognative therapy works best. When you can identify irrational behavior you can correct it.
