Kandy,

Jane Fonda was not only aware of American POW's, but she and her entourage visited the infamous "Hanoi Hilton", which was notorious for torturing their prisoners. ( Sen. John McCain is one of them, for example. )

The story goes that she belittled the American POW's by asking them if they were "sorry" for their attacks on the "innocent Vietnamese people." She also betrayed an American POW who attempted to give her a note to give to U.S. authorities telling them of the torture that the POW's were receiving while in that camp. It is said that she gave the note to the camp Commandant, and the POW was tortured.

"Hanoi Jane" did indeed participate in propaganda films for the N. Vietnamese during the war. Which in anyones book is treason. So thus she is called, "Hanoi Jane", and she is a traitor to this nation.

she definitely did go the line and became a traitor. If a bugular is coming by way of your window and you shoot them, you're able to have self assurance that your existence replaced into in possibility. If not, you need to be charged with homicide. i've got self assurance she greater desirable than handed the definition of treason. loose speech, first modification rights are one element, going over to the enemies cities, making recordings, and so on. is a few thing else. She is a maggot. She could have in basic terms diminished away and have a look at to understand what she did. No class.

Yes. She was aware. But she was blinded by the fact that the Vietnam War was wrong. And the Vietnamese lied to her about how those prisoners were being treated. This in no way excuses her actions....and that is why I myself have no respect for her. She was wrong on so many levels regardless of her "intentions", or what she "thought" she "knew"...in a time of war...if you are going to "pick a side"..back it up...MOVE!!!

C.J. in correct, she not only knew, she visited their interment camps where American POWs were held and there may still be in existence today somewhere some of the footage from her propoganda visit (I saw it as a child on T.V.).

Some of the POWS passed notes to her that some had given to her to pass on for help or to the families to their captors, for which they werre brutalized and tortured even more.

The soldiers from that war, if the didn't come home in a body bag, came home to be spit on, outcast and called "baby killers" thanks to the works of Hanoi Jane and those like her. It affected them their entire lives.

One thing the younger generation doesn't seem to grasp as many of the soldiers in that war were drafted against their will; they had the choice of going to war or going to jail (there were many "draft dodgers" who fled to Canada to avoid either of those options and were/are fugitives from the law and labeled traitors).

The Draft is where there is a lottery and if they pick out your date of birth and you are a male between certain ages, you drafted and have to serve in the armed forces, unless you have major physical aliment or you are in college or have a lot of money (cough, cough Dan Quayle).

Males between the ages of 18-25 are still required to register for Selective Service even today; it could happen again.

Jane Fonda isn't aware of anything around her... too much Aqua Net to the head... She should be tried for treason and never aloud to speak or have any influence in public again....

She knew, she just hated America like so many hate George Bush that she thought helping the commies was a good thing to do. We should have never let her back into this country for giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

NO, I don't think she knew a thing she was a pot smoking hippie. She embarrassed the US by going over there and protesting the war against her own country and standing on the soil bloodied by our men.

At the risk of being controversial, maybe if more had taken a similar stance, a good number of lives, on both sides, might've been saved.

I don't expect this to be a popular view. I take solace that I'm behind a computer and those who don't share my opinions can't spit in my face from here.
