I don't understand it either. If something is very offensive then maybe, but for a joke? That seems a bit extreme. Some people take this thing way too seriously. The only time I have ever reported someone was a child protection issue.Other than that I just couldn't be bothered.

Myra, the written word doesn't always carry with it the true intention of the writer. Not everyone has a sense of humor, either. My grandmother threatened to kick my uncle and me out of a Thanksgiving celebration once because we were making a lot of puns. It shut us up alright, we were shocked. But sometimes that's the way it is.
If you preface your remark in a way that reveals your intent to be humorous, it might help. And do be sure that your humor fits with the spirit of the question. You wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

I guess you didn't read the ENTIRE Yahoo service agreement. The fine print clearly says that all humor is subject to ridicule, dissection, and if used in the presence of the witless, may very likely cause pain and/or suffering as a result.

humour is a difficult thing to translate to those who don't know you - take it in your stride they obviously, as you say don't have much of a 'sense of humour'!
