In the words of Judge Learned Hand, in his famous book, "The Bill of Rights," ...
"Each one of us must in the end choose for himself how far he would like to leave our collective fate to the wayward vagaries of popular assemblies. No one can fail to recognize the perils to which the last forty years have exposed such governments. ... For myself, it would be most irksome to be ruled by a bevy of Platonic Guardians, even if I knew how to choose them, which I assuredly do not. If they were in charge, I should miss the stimulus of living in a society where I have, at least theoretically, some part in the direction of public affairs. Of course I know how illusory would be the belief that my vote determined anything; but nevertheless when I go to the polls I have a satisfaction in the sense that we are all engaged in a common venture."
The U.S. Supreme Court is behaving like a bevy of Platonic Guardians. They steal elections and flush the people's moral values down the toilet. They have robbed from me the reason for voting -- that "satisafaction ... that we are all engaged in a common venture."

It's because of the electoral college that your vote DOES count think about what you just said...
The electoral votes go to the majority candidate how did that candidate get the majority of votes?? Just because your guy loses doesn't mean your vote didn't count. If there was no EC then a candidate could win by taking far less states than it does now.
I always vote...usually Libertarian and i feel that if you voted for the candidate you wanted then you didn't waste your vote the only vote wasted is the vote not cast.

try bringing the question to the person you want to vote for.
Maybe it is high time we get rid of the electoral college and go with "us the people" vote. It would take a Congressional
resolution and probably vetoed by the President since that was the way he got elected the first time. Do not despair and keep voting...someday we'll get to it.

I used to not vote because I felt mine didn't matter and I felt that most of the politicians were corrupt, and I didn't really care to vote for the lesser of the two evils.
After this huge blunder that is currently in office I have taken a huge interest in politics and registered to vote for the first time, and hopefully everyone will do their research this time around so that we can get a decent President.
I checked out all of the candidates, and the only one I feel will help to unite our country through bipartisan politics is Obama. I also like all of the issues he stands for and have read his book "The Audacity Of Hope"-even if you don't plan on voting for him, it is an excellent book, and he has some really great ideas.
Here's a video so you can see what so many people like about him:

And if you think he's inexperienced:

And if you think he's Muslim (there is a bogus email floating around claiming he is):

When I'm totally dissatisfied with the ruling party and when my vote cannot make any difference. The two reasons have to be happening at the same time.

Incapacity due to medical reason is the only valid excuse for not voting. Exercise the right to vote because it is the only weapon remaining to a citizen on choosing a leader.

If we did away with the electoral college, you then are again inciting "mob rule". Thus perpetuating a very dangerous path toward full on socialism. I prefer the electoral college stay in place thank you.

Total incapacity should be the only reason to not vote. Everyone has the right and duty to cast their vote, regardless
