Starting from the east, and heading north-west: Diamond Bar, Arcadia, parts of Pasadena, Burbank, Glendale, Valencia. West: Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Agoura Hills, Encino. Southwest: Santa Monica (parts of), Marina Del Rey. South: Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Palos Verdes (parts of), Long Beach (parts of). The closer to the beach, the more expensive. Most of the communities west of the 405 freeway, and south of the 10 freeway, are where you want to start looking.
If you don't mind the drive, there are a lot of communities in Orange County that are great to live in: Anaheim Hills, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Orange, Irvine, Tustin, Laguna, Dana Pointe, Aliso Viejo, Mission Viejo, Lake Forrest - to name a few.
